Your Shoe Rotation: How to make the most out of it.

For those among us with more expansive shoe wardrobes, it can oftentimes be a pain to consistently wear every. Single. Shoe in our rotation! As earnestly as we may try, many of us will, more often than not, repeatedly find ourselves reaching out for the same 2-4 shoes. This is especially true for those of us who haven’t explored a sustainable system for engaging our full shoe wardrobe.

So this brings me to a system that has been working relatively well for me for the past 6 months: “Theme” weeks.

To put it plainly: Every week I decide on specific shoes to wear based on style (e.g.: Double Monks), color (e.g.: Burgundy), brand (e.g.: Crockett and Jones), etc., and try to stick to said theme. As an example, last week was “Double Monkstrap Boots” Theme week. This week is my “Handwelted Shoes” Theme week (regardless of brand), and next week I’m thinking of doing a “Navy Oxfords” Theme week.

For the past half year, this system has proven to be super effective in terms of helping me to wear as many of the shoes I invested in in the past 11 years as possible (and preventing those formerly neglected shoes from giving me the “Death Stare” lmao!), in addition to instilling a sense of discipline in terms of keeping an up-to-date inventory.

Please let me know what you think of this system. Is this one you’d find helpful for yourselves? Do you a more effective/sustainable idea for engaging your full wardrobes? Does this just seem like too much darn work?! Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Always put your best foot forward, gents and ladies
