But the The most exciting part was I went to the hairdressers, my husband's hairdresser, who's been in business for about 30, 40 years on Ditmars. Right. And I took her a picture of a 1962, bouffant hairdo, and I said, can you do this? And she goes, yep. And she did it. I had a big old bouffant. It was amazing. Reginald Ferguson [00:04:55]: Really? Tiff [00:05:30]: It was like a tuxedo coat, black satin shawl collar, and then it was a red and, Well, it's like a wine red and black kind of damp stripe thing. Once I got to the register, I had star money. So it and I had, used my credit card, got me an additional 20% off. Oh. That coat ended up only costing Reginald Ferguson [00:05:50]: $7. Tiff [00:11:06]: Well, there's this, This, article that came out, recently, as they often do about, the biggest sneaker of 2020. Which is We're already calling the biggest sneaker of 2020. The color. Raw blue and white. Tiff [00:12:28]: Nice. Reginald Ferguson [00:12:29]: Yeah. So Kenny Skywalker I mean, that was the whole Kentucky wildcat squad, but Kenny Skywalker, if any Nick fan. So Yeah. When they came out yeah. The whole thing with Nike Dunks is that they tied in with, NC double a. Tiff [00:12:43]: Right. Which was, apparently, what I read Was just starting to get really huge, which was in 1985. That's the year I graduated from high school. And I can't believe that in the NCAA wasn't Bigger. Like, already big. Reginald Ferguson [00:12:58]: I mean, but it was I mean yeah. I mean, but growth is growth because it definitely it definitely was big at the time. First of all, you had the big east, which was an incredible division. So there was a stretch that almost there was, like, 2 or 3 years in a row that I think every, final 4 or the 8, there was a Big East team. So That collabo was just amazing, but I just I just like the colors. I mean, I think that's how it is with every kid. I like the colors. We're all blue and white. So they started as a basketball sneaker. Love them. That's why I had them. Tiff [00:13:46]: They came out at the same time as, The Air Jordans? Reginald Ferguson [00:13:51]: They did come out around that era. Yeah. Absolutely. Tiff [00:13:53]: They weren't they didn't get all hyped up like the Air Jordans, though. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:56]: No. No. But to me, From from a New York City perspective and living with my grandparents at the time in the Bronx, I mean, it listen. Nike Nike is a hip hop brand, and the dunk was a hip hop shoe. And if you lived in the 5 boroughs, and then I think if you were black and brown, there wasn't 1 sneaker you rocked, obviously, that was a strong that was a strong contender back in the day. Unquestionable. Tiff [00:14:20]: I, I did some research. Reginald Ferguson [00:14:22]: Of course you did. Tiff [00:14:23]: And, because because, you know, 1985, I'm like, what? I was graduating from high school. What is Reginald Ferguson [00:14:28]: that? What? What? What? But I did take a look at other dunks, and I did pick out a couple of my favorites. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:15]: So what do you have? Speaker C [00:15:16]: What do you know? Sure. Tiff [00:15:18]: One of them is a 2005 Nike Dunk SB Lowe, Staple, New York City Pigeon. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:24]: Yes. The Pigeon. Tiff [00:15:24]: Do you remember that? Reginald Ferguson [00:15:25]: I'm familiar yeah. I'm familiar with the Pigeon, but let but let's talk about that. So like I said, Dunks have really undergone at least 2 or 3 transformations. They started as a hoop shoe, particularly NCAA. Again, definitely a New York City shoe, very important. But then that SB, that's when that kinda got reinvented because that's that's the Nike Skateboard division. Tiff [00:15:47]: Right. That's when the skaters came in and designed a fatter Tongue, a little more padded tongue. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:52]: Oh. Tiff [00:15:52]: And then like an air pillow in the sock portion of the shoe to absorb a lot of the shock. So that's what that's what the s b is. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:00]: Understood. So that's, you know, that's a transformation. So Tiff [00:16:04]: That was Huge. Big difference because, you know, the tongue's used to be a piece of leather. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:09]: Yeah. I mean, but that tongue, if I recall from mine, it was nylon. It was white nylon. No. Wanna walk. Tiff [00:16:14]: It's definitely you could see it in the picture. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:16]: And I had white and blue fat laces. Tiff [00:16:20]: Did you have high or low? Reginald Ferguson [00:16:21]: I had low. Oh, okay. Actually, can I tell a story about that? I I can't I can't believe I almost forgot this. Tiff [00:16:27]: All day about this. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:28]: No. We can't. But I will tell you, I will tell you yeah. I can't believe I was gonna forget this. So I lived with my grandparents at that time up in the Bronx where the people were fresh. And my best friend from growing up, who I've mentioned on the podcast every once in a while, Daryl Walker. We got those Dunks came out at least when I got my dunks, not about when they came out. I got them in the summertime, and I convinced my best friend that the best decision we can make is get the same pair of sneakers. Tiff [00:17:01]: So you can matchy match. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:03]: Yes. I didn't think of it in that terminology, but I was like, we're best friends. We should get the same sneaker. So I convinced him because even then, I was a salesperson and got the royal blue and white, AKA the Kentuckys. He did too. If you ask me, that was the best summer in my life. Tiff [00:17:24]: Aw. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:25]: If you ask him, it was the worst summer of his life. Oh. He hated it because everyone will look at it as it go, twins. And I couldn't be more proud and Tiff [00:17:37]: Mercilessly, tease. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:39]: Kids well, kids are kids. Kids are cruel. So he hated that summer. I adored that summer. Darts are a way to take in fabric, by sewing along you know, creating a triangle on the inside of the fabric, to take in a waist or take in the back of a jacket to create shape.
