Reginald Ferguson [00:00:01]:
Hello, I'm Reg.
Tiff [00:00:02]:
And I'm TIFF. And we're the fashion geeks trying to make New York and the world.
Reginald Ferguson [00:00:06]:
Well, New York is the world.
Tiff [00:00:07]:
A little flyer, one outfit and podcast at a time.
Reginald Ferguson [00:00:14]:
Welcome to the ride. It is another episode. I am Reg Ferguson, the creator of New York fashion geek, aka geek number one. Yep. Speak.
Tiff [00:00:25]:
And I am fashion geek number two. Tiffany just a supporter.
Reginald Ferguson [00:00:30]:
Oh, wow. A lover, not a fighter. I like this. Just one word. You're following your hero, which was our first fashion hero, which was Prince Tiffany.
Tiff [00:00:42]:
Yes. Love to you all. That's L-U-V-T-U-A-L-L. Wow.
Reginald Ferguson [00:00:50]:
Okay. I don't know what's happening there, but I'm just happy to be here, happy that you were here, happy that you're.
Tiff [00:00:58]:
Listening to us again, that you're back again, or you're new or you're welcome. Welcome.
Reginald Ferguson [00:01:05]:
So, TIFF, what's been going on?
Tiff [00:01:09]:
Shall I dare say more travel.
Reginald Ferguson [00:01:11]:
Oh, wow, here we go again.
Tiff [00:01:14]:
But you know what, Reg? It all ends. It has all come to a screeching halt.
Reginald Ferguson [00:01:20]:
Why is that?
Tiff [00:01:21]:
Because I got a job.
Reginald Ferguson [00:01:22]:
Oh, snap. Gather. J-O-B.
Tiff [00:01:27]:
Yeah, I got a job in the NYC. Yes. And it requires me to be there in the morning.
Reginald Ferguson [00:01:33]:
It's a nine to five or 830.
Tiff [00:01:36]:
To 430, which is even worse. I'm going to try to negotiate.
Reginald Ferguson [00:01:40]:
I want to explain to everybody or.
Tiff [00:01:42]:
Eleven or something like that. Do they have those jobs?
Reginald Ferguson [00:01:45]:
Twelve? No, you had one of those jobs.
Tiff [00:01:48]:
I created my own business starting at noon because I don't get up in the morning.
Reginald Ferguson [00:01:52]:
Exactly. You are not a morning person. Ladies and gentlemen, as you know or may not know, tiffany had a very successful dog walking business that is a thing in LIC totes a thing in.
Tiff [00:02:05]:
Astoria for ten years.
Reginald Ferguson [00:02:07]:
Over ten years. Sold it. So that really says something, because to be honest, when she told me, she was like, I'm sewing my business, I was like, of walking dogs. I'm like, wow, that's real. So now she's trying to figure out her next chapter, right.
Tiff [00:02:22]:
The next 15 years before I retire, go to Florida, and live my days on the beach, getting all pruned up, enjoying the life of leisure with my cat.
Reginald Ferguson [00:02:31]:
That's going to be really hard to do the podcast with you all.
Tiff [00:02:36]:
I'll come in remotely from the clearwater. How did you know clearwater is exactly where we want to go. Yeah, because the water is clear.
Reginald Ferguson [00:02:46]:
So what's up, Carmen? San Diego with the travel.
Tiff [00:02:49]:
Well, recently, I just got back from Hollywood. What? Florida?
Reginald Ferguson [00:02:56]:
That is psych.
Tiff [00:02:59]:
You know, it's a very cute little town in Florida.
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:02]:
No, I'm actually aware of it because my late family was from Fort Lauderdale, part of really? Broward. Yeah, I still have family in Broward.
Tiff [00:03:12]:
It's all part of that Broward county. That? Problems from Broward County, right.
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:16]:
They were in Hollandale.
Tiff [00:03:18]:
Oh, I went to Hollandale.
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:19]:
Oh, you did?
Tiff [00:03:20]:
I had a steak dinner in Hollandale.
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:21]:
Oh, really?
Tiff [00:03:22]:
Yes, I did.
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:22]:
Okay. My related family is right off the exit where the dog run is.
Tiff [00:03:30]:
You mean the dog track?
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:32]:
Yeah, the dog track.
Tiff [00:03:33]:
It's not a run.
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:34]:
I'm a New Yorker.
Tiff [00:03:35]:
It's a track.
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:35]:
Oh, I forgot who I was talking to. Oh, my God.
Tiff [00:03:38]:
And let's just say they're phasing out the dog tracks. Phasing them out, there would be no.
Reginald Ferguson [00:03:43]:
More was really that was really something. But that's on the way out. Yeah. That's why I still have yeah.
Tiff [00:03:50]:
I have a couple of friends who had family in the Hollywood, Hollandale Fort Lauderdale area, actually, and it was nice to see that part of Florida was still kind of I mean, there's some parts that were really commercially blown up. Like the hotel we stayed at was a resort.
Reginald Ferguson [00:04:05]:
I can't believe.
Tiff [00:04:05]:
It was huge.
Reginald Ferguson [00:04:06]:
Right.
Tiff [00:04:07]:
But then you travel a block or two up the street and it's still three, four, five level hotels that I'm used I grew up in.
Reginald Ferguson [00:04:14]:
I was like, yeah, that's what you.
Tiff [00:04:15]:
Born in Cocoa Beach, Florida. And that's what I was used to in Cocoa Beach, Florida. So it was kind of nice to see that in a way, because I've been to all these beach resorts in the past year. Oh, my life sucks. I know. Anyway, because I was working hard for 30 years and I deserve this. Anyway, but it was cute to see these little places that still hadn't blown up. That in places like, where I would go see my cousin at the age of 13 or twelve.
Tiff [00:04:49]:
And the hotels were three stories high and they were right on the beach. Cabanas yeah, exactly. There was still that kind of flavor in that area. It was nice to see that. And I did the inner canal. I did a boat tour on the inner canal.
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:04]:
Oh, wow.
Tiff [00:05:05]:
That was cool. Didn't see any manatees, which is unfortunate.
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:07]:
Oh, the sea dogs.
Tiff [00:05:09]:
Yeah. I saw a manatee when I was really, really young and my grandfather was still alive. That had been like, 30 years ago.
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:15]:
Oh, wow.
Tiff [00:05:16]:
The last time I saw a manatee.
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:17]:
Have you ever been to Manatee County?
Tiff [00:05:19]:
I have not.
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:20]:
I have.
Tiff [00:05:21]:
Did you see a lot of manatees? Do they know that that's their county and that's where they can go and be protected?
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:26]:
I don't think so. TIFF and no, I did not.
Tiff [00:05:28]:
Can somebody send them a memo so they can get out of these canals with these? I saw a Speedboat with five outboards. Why the hell do you need five outboards on a little boat?
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:40]:
I'm a native New Yorker.
Tiff [00:05:42]:
There's no reason. Because you scar up the manatees. Stop the tragedy.
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:47]:
Wow. Fashion geek number two. Ladies and gentlemen.
Tiff [00:05:52]:
Listen, causes are fashionable.
Reginald Ferguson [00:05:55]:
Oh, no, we don't want any cause to be fashionable. We want a cause to be just and right.
Tiff [00:06:00]:
That's right. I like that. That's even better.
Reginald Ferguson [00:06:04]:
No, thank you.
Tiff [00:06:05]:
Thanks for that up.
Reginald Ferguson [00:06:08]:
Well, that's real great because right.
Tiff [00:06:11]:
All right.
Reginald Ferguson [00:06:12]:
I'm fighting the power on many things and has nothing to do with the podcast.
Tiff [00:06:17]:
Yeah, we all are.
Reginald Ferguson [00:06:18]:
Yeah. Everyone's dealing.
Tiff [00:06:19]:
That's right. All right.
Reginald Ferguson [00:06:23]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:06:24]:
Shall we move on?
Reginald Ferguson [00:06:25]:
Yeah, why not?
Tiff [00:06:26]:
All right, the next section we want to talk about is an article you wanted to explore.
Reginald Ferguson [00:06:31]:
Yeah. And actually, I have a feeling that I may have another voice who wants to chime in. They don't have to, but just I know culturally, based on what we're talking about, they may want to get involved. If not, they're going to get involved later on.
Tiff [00:06:52]:
Who could that be? Are we going to keep a secret? Okay.
Reginald Ferguson [00:06:56]:
Yeah. I can keep a secret.
Tiff [00:06:57]:
All right. First we want to talk about so you sent me an article yes, I did. About the soccer club. Some people call it football. Yes, of course.
Reginald Ferguson [00:07:07]:
Not here. Here we call it soccer. But I know people who call it football.
Tiff [00:07:11]:
So I'll say football.
Reginald Ferguson [00:07:13]:
Wait, we heard someone say wait, someone from someone else just said football. Football. No, he said yes. Correct. Come on. Correct. I got a feeling that someone's going to be chiming in on this.
Tiff [00:07:28]:
So this article you sent me was about the club Paris Saint Germain.
Reginald Ferguson [00:07:32]:
Yes. PSG.
Tiff [00:07:34]:
PSG. And how they're collaborating with the Jordan brand, the Jump Man icon in particular.
Reginald Ferguson [00:07:42]:
Yes. Which we talked about as a fashion hero.
Tiff [00:07:45]:
Yes, we did. In prior episodes, our producer chimed in on our producer search, and I found this article kind of interesting. At first when I was reading this article, I was like, what the hell? Come on. It's like celebrities jump in the bag, on the wagon, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Reginald Ferguson [00:07:58]:
No, this is serious.
Tiff [00:08:00]:
I get it. It's a young club. Young in terms of in relativity and in comparison to, like, what was the club you're talking about?
Reginald Ferguson [00:08:07]:
Manchester United.
Tiff [00:08:08]:
Which has been around.
Reginald Ferguson [00:08:10]:
Which has been around, yeah. Way before we were ever thought of and way before our grandparents were ever thought of.
Tiff [00:08:16]:
Right. Paris St. Germain was formed formally in 1970s. Right, right. And they're finding that they need more attendance at their games and they need more excitement in their fans. And so they have collaborated, which is something new and huge in the last decade. Brand collaborating with another brand with a basketball icon, michael Jordan. So we have a soccer team collaborating Jump Man.
Tiff [00:08:45]:
Jump man with Jordan. Jump man. Icon. And their uniforms are.
Reginald Ferguson [00:08:55]:
Well, well, let me explain. I'm not defending I just want to explain. For people who are down with soccer, you understand this. For those who are not, I'm going to break it down. Essentially, what is happening to Tiffany's point, which is freaking her out because she doesn't know anything about soccer. She's like, it's a black and white ball. I don't know what that means. You can't put in.
Tiff [00:09:18]:
What do I do with it?
Reginald Ferguson [00:09:19]:
Essentially, palla. Saint germain a very popular club, particularly in the past few years.
Tiff [00:09:27]:
But why is it popular, Reg? Because it's proximity to Paris.
Reginald Ferguson [00:09:31]:
Proximity to Paris is in Paris. It's in Paris.
Tiff [00:09:34]:
That's what I'm saying.
Reginald Ferguson [00:09:35]:
Saint Germain is I'm botching the word, but it's a.
Tiff [00:09:42]:
Mall.
Reginald Ferguson [00:09:43]:
Yeah, I didn't take in Paris. Exactly. So essentially, what we need to understand that PSG in a better way is like the knicks okay, break it down for us regular. It's a popular city. It's a popular team. Popular team in a metropolitan city.
Tiff [00:10:02]:
Because of New York City. The knicks are popular.
Reginald Ferguson [00:10:06]:
Yeah, exactly. So it's a big city. It's a big international city. We're a big international city. That's the greatest parallel I can make. But what's really important and intriguing to your point here, which ultimately ties into fashion, is that they have essentially altered their logo, right?
Tiff [00:10:26]:
Because when the club was first formed, they had this gentleman who made this very nice, like I remember.
Reginald Ferguson [00:10:33]:
Do you know who that is?
Tiff [00:10:34]:
Can you tell me the name?
Reginald Ferguson [00:10:35]:
It's not just a gentleman. It was one of the former owners.
Tiff [00:10:38]:
Of the club there you go.
Reginald Ferguson [00:10:40]:
Who was in advertising, and he had.
Tiff [00:10:43]:
A simple stripe right down a dark uniform. Like a burnt orange colored stripe down a dark uniform.
Reginald Ferguson [00:10:51]:
Orange. I'm sorry, orange.
Tiff [00:10:54]:
Burnt red, brown, orange. Oh.
Reginald Ferguson [00:10:56]:
Oh.
Tiff [00:10:57]:
Somebody's bringing it.
Reginald Ferguson [00:10:58]:
Oh, my God.
Tiff [00:11:00]:
In the studio happening right now. Reg is pulling from the plastic wrap the actual uniform jersey for PSG.
Reginald Ferguson [00:11:14]:
Team of my man neymar. You have to understand, this is like the Yankees back in the 80s. So I'm going back in time. What we're talking about is very significant players, okay. Just amazing players. Cavani as well. And listen, I'm a New Yorker. I'm an american.
Reginald Ferguson [00:11:39]:
But I've always loved soccer. I used to play soccer when I was a kid. I don't claim to really follow it that closely. Now. You can always check me at the world cup. Let's get down to this. What we're talking about is now the logo, which was created by this advertising magnet, which is in essentially red, white, and blue with a flute elise.
Tiff [00:11:58]:
A flute.
Reginald Ferguson [00:11:59]:
Elise yeah. I brought it. I brought it. I brought it. That's how serious we are at this podcast.
Tiff [00:12:05]:
We have to put this on instagram. You have to take a picture and put it on instagram. We have to show it. This is a classic Nike swoosh.
Reginald Ferguson [00:12:13]:
This is a classic one. When over took over the kit, obviously, there were kits way back in the day. I'm not doing those kits with seat and whoever else. I'm a New Yorker. I'm an american. Stop. But for me, yeah, the fly Emirates angle, which is very significant in this conversation, because essentially the emirates own this team. They own this team.
Reginald Ferguson [00:12:38]:
And this team is the place to be if you're traveling, because you're going.
Tiff [00:12:43]:
To go to Paris.
Reginald Ferguson [00:12:44]:
You're going to go to Paris, and.
Tiff [00:12:45]:
You'Re going to want to watch soccer.
Reginald Ferguson [00:12:47]:
You are rolling up in the box.
Tiff [00:12:48]:
If you are invited, if you're Jay Z and Beyonce.
Reginald Ferguson [00:12:53]:
Exactly.
Tiff [00:12:53]:
You want to see some soccer.
Reginald Ferguson [00:12:55]:
But let's get right down to this. The red, white, and blue and the fruit Elise has been taken over by the jump man.
Tiff [00:13:03]:
Now, why? That's what I want to know.
Reginald Ferguson [00:13:06]:
Well, why? I mean, the reason why is understand this. When we talked about Jordan as a fashion hero, I talked about the influence and how deep it was, and I mentioned PSG, but this was prior to this takeover, because right now, what we're saying is the PSG logo is now being literally replaced by the jump man logo.
Tiff [00:13:28]:
So it looked like the Eiffel Tower at first, the logo. It had an Eiffel Tower kind of what it is. Right. Which recognize it as a Paris club. Something in Paris. Something in France. It was an Eiffel Tower. And now you the Jordan jump man.
Tiff [00:13:49]:
How does that relate to Paris?
Reginald Ferguson [00:13:51]:
It doesn't. It doesn't. But we're talking about the power and the significance of the Jordan brand and how the relatively new owners at PSG go, listen, we're hot. That's hot. Understand that the Jordan brand is so significant worldwide.
Tiff [00:14:11]:
So, yeah, it's becoming like if it hasn't been international, it's going to be international now.
Reginald Ferguson [00:14:16]:
But it's been international. It's been international because, again, the Jordan brand had already represented this kit, but now it's taking over the logo.
Tiff [00:14:26]:
How did it represent this kit?
Reginald Ferguson [00:14:27]:
You meaning? Meaning that Nike, through the Jordan brand, has been running the PSG uniform, aka kit, for years now.
Tiff [00:14:40]:
Thus the Nike swoosh on the old uniforms.
Reginald Ferguson [00:14:44]:
Well, not even the swoosh. The jump man was on one part of the jersey. Now, the jumpman is the PSG logo.
Tiff [00:14:51]:
That is it. It has supported in place of the triangular Eiffel Tower. It is now that triangular jump man. If you can visualize that, people, it literally is the exact same thing.
Reginald Ferguson [00:15:07]:
Parisians, I don't think, really are down with this.
Tiff [00:15:11]:
I read there was some kind of blowback to that.
Reginald Ferguson [00:15:14]:
Yeah, I mean, there's been beef. Again, it always was red, vertical stripe white, blue background. I'm not even really showing that.
Tiff [00:15:23]:
Not burn orange, red.
Reginald Ferguson [00:15:24]:
I knew it was a vertical stripe orange. What the heck, TIFF? Don't do this.
Tiff [00:15:30]:
All right, in conclusion, what can we say about this? I mean, is this going to work?
Reginald Ferguson [00:15:34]:
I don't even think it's in conclusion. Yes, it's going to work. There's no question that it's going to work.
Tiff [00:15:40]:
I mean, first of all, this team is getting the celebrity visits that they're coming to these games, which is drawing more people coming to the game, which is really what you want.
Reginald Ferguson [00:15:52]:
They're a hot and sexy team, right?
Tiff [00:15:54]:
Hot and sexy team. And the merchandising off of this collaboration is sexy.
Reginald Ferguson [00:16:01]:
It is. And again, I'm not Parisian. We do have a soccer fan in our midst here. If they want to chime in. I do. Yeah. Please, what you got? So I feel like, first of all, that team, it's kind of like the superiority of that team over the rest of the teams that are in that league is just it's the best team. Yeah.
Reginald Ferguson [00:16:23]:
They're always winning. So I feel like at this point, they know they're in Paris and they're.
Tiff [00:16:28]:
Just so they deserve the collaboration with the Jordan brand.
Reginald Ferguson [00:16:32]:
I mean, deserve. Is that the right word? No, I think they're just also thinking, uh, we can sell this worldwide. We can do whatever we want. We can do whatever we want.
Tiff [00:16:43]:
We can do whatever we want. And isn't that what any brand merchandising brand wants to hear?
Reginald Ferguson [00:16:50]:
Yeah. Global domination.
Tiff [00:16:52]:
Yeah, I guess.
Reginald Ferguson [00:16:53]:
And also, being young, it's not like there are going to be any well, there might be some old timers that might be like, well, I don't know.
Tiff [00:16:59]:
That's an important point you brought up, because that's the kind of the reaction I had being an old timer to reading this article. I'm like, why? One of the problems was we're a soccer team. We play soccer. We play football. What about this T shirt and this merchandise? Who cares? We play football, right? Am I the voice of the old generation or what?
Reginald Ferguson [00:17:24]:
Everyone cares. Let's be clear here, all right? From literally when I was born, from the 70s on, let us not get this twisted that branding has never been significant. So let's go a little deeper about this.
Tiff [00:17:45]:
Has never been significant.
Reginald Ferguson [00:17:46]:
Has always been significant. That's my point.
Tiff [00:17:48]:
I'm sorry, I thought I heard you say never.
Reginald Ferguson [00:17:50]:
So one of the owners back in the day, Daniel Hester, right? He created this look. Do you know what he created this look by? He ripped it off IOX, which, to be honest, I want to keep this real big shout out to House of Haughtendorf. Until two years ago, I was calling it Ajax. Ever since I was a child, when I was reading about soccer and Korioff, I was like, oh, it's Ajax. Why would it be Ajax? I mean, come on, man. We got a brand. We got a cleansing brand. It's Ajax.
Reginald Ferguson [00:18:20]:
Well, when I came to this country, I used to refer to Ajax as the.
Tiff [00:18:29]:
Ajax.
Reginald Ferguson [00:18:30]:
I just found out that was Ajax. So my point is but this is the tie in I want to make. So he does that as an homage to Ajax. But let's talk about the king of Ajax, the late Johann Kroyoff. Johann Kroyoff had a deal with Puma Holland, the Netherlands, back in the day. Was the conception of total football one of the greatest teams to never win? Correct. Because he was down with Puma and Adidas was running Holland's national team kit. Instead of three stripes, his jersey had two stripes.
Reginald Ferguson [00:19:11]:
I didn't know that. That's fashion right there. So let's not be you know, we can we can agree, disagree. That's not a problem. But let's not go in 2018 like, this was not happening way back in the day.
Tiff [00:19:26]:
I guess it didn't get the press that this deal is getting right now.
Reginald Ferguson [00:19:30]:
Well, that's because the world is much smaller through technology.
Tiff [00:19:33]:
That's true. Much true. I mean, the Internet has really made us really more micro than we've ever been.
Reginald Ferguson [00:19:38]:
Well, let's really keep this real. Jordan's at the game. I know. Jordan don't know a damn thing about soccer. That's all I'm saying.
Tiff [00:19:44]:
Jordan is at the next fan who.
Reginald Ferguson [00:19:45]:
Hates Michael Jordan, and I will say I don't think something like this will fly in, like, Barcelona or Real Madrid or Manchester United. Can you explain why?
Tiff [00:19:53]:
Yeah. Why you say that?
Reginald Ferguson [00:19:54]:
Because Manchester u, as you know, one of their sponsors is.
Tiff [00:20:02]:
Still there when.
Reginald Ferguson [00:20:03]:
Rain Rooney was still on the team before he came now to MLS.
Tiff [00:20:07]:
I just looked like that means soccer is becoming more American than ever.
Reginald Ferguson [00:20:12]:
So explain that. I think it's because it's a sacred thing. Like, the crest is like a crest of your team, and they can put whatever they want around the jersey, but that will not be touched. You cannot touch that.
Tiff [00:20:26]:
So the Chevrolet is an advertisement, just like back in the day with suits. The crest of your suit or the crest of your battle wear showed the house that you were loyal to.
Reginald Ferguson [00:20:38]:
Correct.
Tiff [00:20:39]:
Just back in the day of any country in the union to this day, to speak of the okay, I get it. I get it.
Reginald Ferguson [00:20:47]:
Bottom line is, Jordan wins and Knicks lose again. Yes. Let's move on.
Tiff [00:20:53]:
All right, so I think it's about time we introduced our guest.
Reginald Ferguson [00:20:56]:
Yeah, we have.
Tiff [00:20:58]:
Instead of a fashion hero in this.
Reginald Ferguson [00:20:59]:
Episode, what do we have?
Tiff [00:21:01]:
A guest, as you heard.
Reginald Ferguson [00:21:03]:
So what does that mean?
Tiff [00:21:05]:
He is apparently our number one fan, Ridge.
Reginald Ferguson [00:21:09]:
I know, but what we need to find out is what do you do? So, what do you do?
Tiff [00:21:28]:
What's his name first?
Reginald Ferguson [00:21:29]:
All right, fine. Let him let him explain himself.
Tiff [00:21:32]:
Should we introduce him?
Reginald Ferguson [00:21:34]:
We should.
Tiff [00:21:34]:
I think we should introduce him. All right. So in the house tonight, the voice that you have heard from the rafters, from the ethers, from the other corner of the table over here, carlos Alberto ledsma.
Reginald Ferguson [00:21:50]:
Ledesma.
Tiff [00:21:51]:
Ledesma.
Reginald Ferguson [00:21:51]:
Ledesma.
Tiff [00:21:52]:
Damn it. I was trying to get it right.
Reginald Ferguson [00:21:54]:
You are botching it. But what?
Tiff [00:21:56]:
He knows I'm from North Carolina. I normally do pronounce every dip thong. And that time I was like, no, it's your syllable.
Reginald Ferguson [00:22:05]:
I am from New York. I know this pronunciation. He knows that because you told me about your elementary school. Was yes. When I was growing up, I had a classmate by the name of John paula Desma. And then when I met Carlos, I lost my mind, because I've never seen that last name that surname since, and I pronounced it accurately, and we became friends ever since.
Tiff [00:22:33]:
Well, that answers the question I had about how do you two know each other? Because you brought our guests to the table today.
Reginald Ferguson [00:22:40]:
Yes, I did. We met a long time ago. Around two years ago. We met in Brooklyn. Well, yeah, we need to have an air of.
Tiff [00:22:53]:
New York in the New York time.
Reginald Ferguson [00:22:55]:
It is a mighty long time, and I don't know why you're doing all this. He's our guest, so on the strength of me, that's why he's here. And he has a lot of opinions on stuff. Are we giving details on where we met or are we keeping that? No, I said we met in Brooklyn. I thought that was enough. That's good. Yeah. It's five boroughs to the city, so I narrowed it down.
Tiff [00:23:17]:
It's a pleasure to have you.
Reginald Ferguson [00:23:18]:
Thank you.
Tiff [00:23:19]:
Thank you for joining in our prior conversation about the article we read. We like to start every episode catching up and interesting things that happen. So I appreciate you sort of kind of listening and getting involved in the natural and organic way of the conversation.
Reginald Ferguson [00:23:35]:
And I want to break it down. The reason why Ledesma chimed in there is because he is from Argentina. He's from BA.
Tiff [00:23:43]:
And that answers my second question. Where are you from?
Reginald Ferguson [00:23:46]:
Originally from Buenos Aires.
Tiff [00:23:48]:
Buenos Aires.
Reginald Ferguson [00:23:49]:
But I've been in New York almost 20 years now. Wow.
Tiff [00:23:53]:
My great step grandfather was from Buenos Aires, Argentina. He left during the evaporone years.
Reginald Ferguson [00:24:00]:
Okay.
Tiff [00:24:01]:
He was a rebel. He was very interesting stories about his life and how he came to America. And we shall chat, maybe over drinks afterwards.
Reginald Ferguson [00:24:13]:
Okay. Yeah, it could come up now. I didn't know this connection, but it's fine.
Tiff [00:24:18]:
Well, I just figured it out because I had figured from your instagram that you kind of might be, but I wasn't 100% sure you were from Argentina.
Reginald Ferguson [00:24:28]:
Oh, must be the hair.
Tiff [00:24:32]:
Yeah, the hair speaks for itself.
Reginald Ferguson [00:24:33]:
Yeah. Carlos has this smooth, ladies and gentlemen. He's got this smooth. He could be a football player right now. That's all I'm saying. He's got that smooth look. That is true. Yeah.
Reginald Ferguson [00:24:42]:
Like he was down with Madonna. Yeah, he saw the hand of God. I did see it live. Fell off the chair, 1986. Wow. But it's funny because this haircut, it's kind of like it's not that rare in Argentina. Oh, really?
Tiff [00:24:59]:
Really.
Reginald Ferguson [00:24:59]:
Well, these days it's not as common, but maybe ten years ago, there's a fascination with the Rolling Stones.
Tiff [00:25:08]:
I was about ready to say you have a very mod look about you, and let's talk about what you're wearing besides your hair, which is, I would say, a shortcut at top with long with sort of shoulder length. It ain't a mullet, but in the south, they might call you a mullet. I think they might say it's okay in the south.
Reginald Ferguson [00:25:30]:
In New York. Hold on. Ladies and gentlemen, my man Carlos Odesma has shoulder length hair. That's it.
Tiff [00:25:40]:
Yeah, but it's got many layers.
Reginald Ferguson [00:25:42]:
It's layered.
Tiff [00:25:42]:
Yeah, but it's smooth layers.
Reginald Ferguson [00:25:44]:
It's smooth. Yeah.
Tiff [00:25:45]:
That's a mullet.
Reginald Ferguson [00:25:46]:
No, it's not a mullet. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, let me explain to the person who keeps on saying mullet what a mullet is. A mullet is a haircut from the 80s.
Tiff [00:25:56]:
Yes.
Reginald Ferguson [00:25:57]:
And essentially what it was was business in the front, party in the back. That is not what my man has. No, I have, like, a party going on the sides, too.
Tiff [00:26:07]:
Yeah, the party has moved up from the back to the sides and is joining the front. It's a party all around.
Reginald Ferguson [00:26:13]:
Right. That's why it's not a party.
Tiff [00:26:14]:
Just like the Rolling Stones.
Reginald Ferguson [00:26:16]:
Correct.
Tiff [00:26:16]:
You actually remind me a picture of Mick Jagger in his younger years, actually. Yeah, when he got married to Bianca.
Reginald Ferguson [00:26:24]:
Oh, that's a good look. That's a smooth look.
Tiff [00:26:27]:
Oh, he looked great.
Reginald Ferguson [00:26:30]:
And doesn't look smooth, too. That's what I'm saying. Mullet on him.
Tiff [00:26:33]:
Well, you know, I had to bring mullet. I had to bring in my Southern audience and help them feel fashionable.
Reginald Ferguson [00:26:39]:
Okay.
Tiff [00:26:40]:
Have them feel like their mullet is rocking.
Reginald Ferguson [00:26:42]:
I'm okay with it. Yeah, I'm glad he's okay with it. I'm not, but let's break him down. I think he showed out for this podcast. So do you want me to do it, or do you want to do it?
Tiff [00:26:54]:
You can start and I'll finish.
Reginald Ferguson [00:26:56]:
Ledesma is rocking. Three piecer rocking. A vintage YSL eve Saint Laurent, which for the millennials is a Laurent. But is YSL. Wait, what else am I seeing here? Because my boy is just flashing the lining, and I don't have my spectacular on. I was saying that it was purchased at Barney's. Whoa.
Tiff [00:27:23]:
Back in the said it was purchased in the 70s. You were alive in the was not.
Reginald Ferguson [00:27:29]:
I got it through a friend.
Tiff [00:27:34]:
I love suits that are passed down. I love it.
Reginald Ferguson [00:27:37]:
Well, he's sharp. He's sharp as hell. He's a navy, ladies and gentlemen. It's a Navy three piece narrow lapel.
Tiff [00:27:45]:
Can we talk about that shirt rocking?
Reginald Ferguson [00:27:47]:
The pattern shirt, reflective modernity, with a slim ass. With a slim not navy silk tie.
Tiff [00:27:57]:
Super slim tie. I mean, super duper slim. Like, more than 80 slim. Super slim.
Reginald Ferguson [00:28:03]:
Yeah. He cannot be a client. He's all together.
Tiff [00:28:07]:
He's got his own thing. Listen, he's got his rock and roll thing. No, that's very rock and roll.
Reginald Ferguson [00:28:14]:
Giving him props. That's my point.
Tiff [00:28:16]:
He can't be your client.
Reginald Ferguson [00:28:18]:
I'd be flattered if he wanted to be a client. That's what I'm saying.
Tiff [00:28:21]:
Yo. You're fly and you take it the next level to rock and roll.
Reginald Ferguson [00:28:25]:
Well, thank you. Always be fly. Oh, you guys say also not picture here is the Chelsea boots.
Tiff [00:28:34]:
So we have to take our boots off coming in.
Reginald Ferguson [00:28:36]:
Yes, we take our footwear off at the studio.
Tiff [00:28:39]:
Very difficult for me because the boots say a lot.
Reginald Ferguson [00:28:44]:
Oh, well, if he's got Chelsea boots, he's speaking my language because I'm rocking mine tomorrow. Yeah, it's an I must have it. Yeah, absolutely.
Tiff [00:28:53]:
So not only is he listening to.
Reginald Ferguson [00:28:55]:
Our podcast, he's following our no, he already had this set. This is his Steve.
Tiff [00:29:02]:
I thought he went out no, went and said, oh, I must have it, so I got to go buy it.
Reginald Ferguson [00:29:06]:
That's why I don't think he could be a client now. Ledesma, the last time I saw you, you were running the show in your respective niche at ABC Carpet at Home. Yes, that was a while ago. I am no longer there, and I saw you at an event there. Yes, but I guess things have changed. What happened? Things have changed. It was great. It was great.
Reginald Ferguson [00:29:30]:
I am now at a PR agency, and I am senior creative strategist to answer yours. So what do you do? Question.
Tiff [00:29:38]:
Yes, that is the section. He listens to us so well. He knows exactly what the name of the section, and he realized we failed to mention the name of the oh, my God, you're brilliant.
Reginald Ferguson [00:29:51]:
No, I mentioned it, and now he's just yeah, I did.
Tiff [00:29:53]:
So what do you do?
Reginald Ferguson [00:29:55]:
So that's what I do. I am a senior creative strategist at a PR agency.
Tiff [00:29:59]:
And what does that mean when you say creative strategist, what does that mean? Break it down.
Reginald Ferguson [00:30:04]:
Basically, I create content for a number of accounts of clients of Magrino PR. That's the name of the PR agency.
Tiff [00:30:12]:
Magrino, yeah, PR.
Reginald Ferguson [00:30:14]:
And basically, I get to travel also, which is great, to do video.
Tiff [00:30:20]:
Yo, I can do that job.
Reginald Ferguson [00:30:22]:
That's fun job.
Tiff [00:30:23]:
I travel. I travel a lot.
Reginald Ferguson [00:30:24]:
If he needs an assistant, maybe you should maybe you should talk to him. That sounds good. She'll carry that.
Tiff [00:30:30]:
I like it better than nine to five.
Reginald Ferguson [00:30:32]:
I hope. Your job is not listening.
Tiff [00:30:35]:
So do I. I love you, Asphalt Green.
Reginald Ferguson [00:30:39]:
Well, that's why I have a producer. We'll edit that. We'll clean that up.
Tiff [00:30:43]:
I mean, that please.
Reginald Ferguson [00:30:45]:
To help her. Serge, clean that up. Thank you. Please. Let's talk more about that because it's such a sexy title. So you're traveling, but what does it entail? What do you do for the agency? Such an important so anything. For example, this last trip, it was to Turks and Caicos, which is pretty nice. This is a hard job.
Reginald Ferguson [00:31:15]:
It has its moments where it can be hard. You do get up at, like, 05:36.
Tiff [00:31:20]:
A.M. To get okay, I'm out.
Reginald Ferguson [00:31:25]:
You're talking to a beach lady.
Tiff [00:31:26]:
So she's 530.
Reginald Ferguson [00:31:31]:
She is red as the sun at 530 in the morning at Turks at Caicos. But I get to fly a drone to get video content. So then we can push it on their social media channels, which is mostly Instagram these days. So you create that. But I also create stuff in a studio. That we have. There's some stop motion pieces. There's some video.
Reginald Ferguson [00:32:00]:
I want to get back to the drone, if you don't mind. Sure. It's such a significant pardon me? It's such a significant new technology. Just explain that to me. Literally, are you hiring a team? Are you doing it yourself? And just explain to me, because even though you're new to this PR firm, you're not new to this game. Right. So just explain to me how significant it is, your involvement. Like, literally, are you dictating shots? Are you doing it yourself with the joystick? You hiring someone? I'm just curious.
Reginald Ferguson [00:32:35]:
I'm doing it myself. Really? Yeah. I fly the drone if I'm lucky that I have a team member with me. They can help a lot, but I'm usually the one flying the drone, getting the shots, getting a GoPro on people and asking them to go for a swim, because I can't really swim. I always need someone to do that. Right. So, yeah, it's fun, stuff like that.
Tiff [00:33:06]:
So you're creating the content personally, yourself.
Reginald Ferguson [00:33:09]:
Yeah.
Tiff [00:33:10]:
He's by handling the drone and everything.
Reginald Ferguson [00:33:13]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:33:13]:
And then you bring it back to edit for the content.
Reginald Ferguson [00:33:16]:
Correct.
Tiff [00:33:17]:
Okay.
Reginald Ferguson [00:33:17]:
So I'm the one doing that. Wow. Yeah. And that came from filmmaking background, because that's what I do. I like to say I am a.
Tiff [00:33:27]:
Filmmaker, so I saw that. I did a little research.
Reginald Ferguson [00:33:30]:
Very good on you. Found this snuff video.
Tiff [00:33:37]:
He's an artistic renaissance man. He does everything. I'm interested that this firm allows you to do hands on drone, but I guess they're like you're doing the creative content, do whatever you need to do.
Reginald Ferguson [00:33:52]:
It's been very free.
Tiff [00:33:54]:
I mean, they're giving you a lot of freedom.
Reginald Ferguson [00:33:56]:
Yeah. I have to say they have been very supportive.
Tiff [00:34:00]:
Is that because of what they saw on your previous music videos?
Reginald Ferguson [00:34:05]:
I think so.
Tiff [00:34:07]:
What else have we done here? Let's see. From your website, I read that you say I'm a filmmaker, writer, music composer, and actor.
Reginald Ferguson [00:34:19]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:34:19]:
My short films have been official selections in numerous international film festivals, and my music has appeared on major TV networks.
Reginald Ferguson [00:34:27]:
Correct.
Tiff [00:34:28]:
That's amazing.
Reginald Ferguson [00:34:29]:
Well, thank you. It's the first time I ever heard it read back to me.
Tiff [00:34:35]:
Did it make you feel good? No, it's nothing pretentious. It's super. Doing the work amazing. And the fact that this is what you're doing, it's like you're not delegating. This is what you're doing.
Reginald Ferguson [00:34:45]:
Yeah.
Tiff [00:34:46]:
So I can imagine that your present job sort of plays back on that. I have to let you know that I did watch one of your videos. It's not a band, music wise. It's a one man band.
Reginald Ferguson [00:35:06]:
Correct.
Tiff [00:35:06]:
Called quiet celebrations.
Reginald Ferguson [00:35:08]:
Yes. It's called the Quiet Celebrations.
Tiff [00:35:10]:
You have a somewhat recent release, 2016.
Reginald Ferguson [00:35:14]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:35:15]:
Strange Jones video, which I watched.
Reginald Ferguson [00:35:18]:
I've had a strange thank you in my bones.
Tiff [00:35:24]:
And then I went back and I looked at all the other stuff that you had. You had an EP released in 2010. Doll House, another one in 2013. Wake up, Lullabies. So you have EPS out there.
Reginald Ferguson [00:35:36]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:35:36]:
On top of the Strange Jones single with the video, the music videos. And right now, you're currently working on post production of a comedy short.
Reginald Ferguson [00:35:46]:
Correct.
Tiff [00:35:47]:
The working title is Zorro.
Reginald Ferguson [00:35:48]:
That is correct.
Tiff [00:35:50]:
So shall we say fingers in all the pots with you?
Reginald Ferguson [00:35:54]:
Yes. It's been a busy year. A couple of years, but yeah, right now, yes, I did the music.
Tiff [00:36:01]:
And your music is I read a description and I'm like, oh, that's right at my alley. It's electronic. It's electronic in a way, but it's sort of what else would you call it?
Reginald Ferguson [00:36:16]:
Maybe that strange. Jones that was a song that I actually it's a friend of mine wrote that one, and that was, like, my homage to it. His name is Robert Gary. But the other stuff that I do, it's mainly, like, 60s psychedelic.
Tiff [00:36:32]:
Psychedelic.
Reginald Ferguson [00:36:33]:
That was the part I was looking.
Tiff [00:36:35]:
For, and I really liked it.
Reginald Ferguson [00:36:37]:
Well, thank you.
Tiff [00:36:38]:
And it appears in shows, too, like, you've been sampled on some primetime shows as well.
Reginald Ferguson [00:36:44]:
It's been on catfish. That MTV show. Yeah, yeah, very.
Tiff [00:36:50]:
That's our producer search timing.
Reginald Ferguson [00:36:55]:
Awesome. Well, I want you back. The song over and out, which is thanks to that show. It's the one with the most hits on the YouTube. It's on episode one of season one. Episode one. Wow.
Tiff [00:37:08]:
I like to dig, dig, dig, dig deep in the back. So I didn't see that one in.
Reginald Ferguson [00:37:13]:
The oh, something went past you.
Tiff [00:37:15]:
Something got past.
Reginald Ferguson [00:37:16]:
Oh, my God. I told him. Yeah. I told him. Tiffany. Yeah, Tiffany. She does her research.
Tiff [00:37:25]:
So other question. Yes, that might go way back. We're a fashion podcast. One of the questions is what is your take on fashion and the expression of fashion in the work that you do?
Reginald Ferguson [00:37:43]:
That is a great question. Yeah. In the work that I do. Okay. So I find that and not just.
Tiff [00:37:53]:
This present work, but your past work.
Reginald Ferguson [00:37:56]:
Okay. So I'll start with this present job, and I think this is probably a good example. When I was at the beach, I know. Yes, I was wearing flip flops. And I know that's appropriate because I reacted because I thought you were saying I was on street. No, you don't wear flip flops on the street. Come on. Thank you.
Reginald Ferguson [00:38:25]:
Thank you. I know better than thank you, ladies and gentlemen. You know how I feel about flip flops.
Tiff [00:38:32]:
Yeah.
Reginald Ferguson [00:38:32]:
Let me explain this. No flip flops to my man ledesma's point only for two places.
Tiff [00:38:40]:
Okay.
Reginald Ferguson [00:38:41]:
The beach and the shower at the gym.
Tiff [00:38:44]:
And the gym.
Reginald Ferguson [00:38:45]:
If you're coming out of the shower. Oh, okay. Yeah, I can see that. Not to walk down the streets of New York City. Yeah. No, you get dirty. No, right. It's ridiculous.
Reginald Ferguson [00:38:57]:
So continue. So, anyway, there is this form of guilt that I got for some reason, even though I know what else am I going to wear? But I did feel guilty of always going down and just wearing flip flops and shorts. It's like so that yes. When it comes to the other stuff that I did like on films, I always have this visuals that I do like primary colors. On wardrobe, I always ask people to wear primary colors. That is the thing I like that I like the pops of color. It's the thing that I always try to do.
Tiff [00:39:38]:
I noticed with your photography, because you also do photography, that you use film.
Reginald Ferguson [00:39:43]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:39:45]:
You use a lot of film still in this digital age. Still using film?
Reginald Ferguson [00:39:49]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:39:49]:
Why?
Reginald Ferguson [00:39:52]:
I think, if anything, I like that anticipation when you go to develop it.
Tiff [00:39:57]:
And do you develop your own stuff? Do you have your own I don't.
Reginald Ferguson [00:40:01]:
Have a dark room. I'm good. I'm not that good. I did take a class at Fit.
Tiff [00:40:05]:
Okay.
Reginald Ferguson [00:40:06]:
I was good when I was taking it, and then I didn't get to do it again.
Tiff [00:40:09]:
Well, dark room requires real estate.
Reginald Ferguson [00:40:11]:
Correct.
Tiff [00:40:12]:
You got to pay rent on that real estate. And if you're not making money on that real estate, that's money down the track.
Reginald Ferguson [00:40:17]:
So I usually do get them developed. I get the negatives, and then I.
Tiff [00:40:20]:
So you don't have so what happens in the development stage? You have no control over no, but you do have control over everything else. I have to tell you, your still photography is just oh, thank you. Beautiful. And everyone can check it out on Instagram.
Reginald Ferguson [00:40:33]:
What is your insta? I know it's not the easiest. Is Carlos Alberto Ledesma? Perhaps you will include it on the episode. You of course we will. Thank you. You know, every Monday what we do.
Tiff [00:40:47]:
I'll be waiting as our biggest fan.
Reginald Ferguson [00:40:49]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:40:50]:
So I have another question, and this is one of the last questions. This is the next last question. Where do you see yourself in terms of what you wanted to be when you grew up?
Reginald Ferguson [00:41:01]:
Oh, interesting. I actually was making my own movies when I was, like, six, but not even with a camera. We couldn't afford a camera at that time.
Tiff [00:41:13]:
So how were you making?
Reginald Ferguson [00:41:13]:
So I used to just draw the pictures, and I had one of those things, like the viewing things that you use to watch. Like those? Yeah, they're not negative.
Tiff [00:41:24]:
You are early storyboarder.
Reginald Ferguson [00:41:26]:
Yeah. So I will basically watch it, and I will pull the strips, and I will look at the frame, and in my head, I will have the dialogue. I still have that stuff. Wow, that's cool. Saving it for I don't know what the archives sure, absolutely.
Tiff [00:41:42]:
Save everything. Because you never know what you go back to and create.
Reginald Ferguson [00:41:47]:
Please don't tell me and my family.
Tiff [00:41:48]:
That I think it's amazing.
Reginald Ferguson [00:41:51]:
It's on the border for us.
Tiff [00:41:52]:
So my last question.
Reginald Ferguson [00:41:54]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:41:55]:
What does the word fly mean to you?
Reginald Ferguson [00:42:00]:
Well, I have to say that when I hear that now, I instantly think of the reg.
Tiff [00:42:08]:
Oh, thanks.
Reginald Ferguson [00:42:09]:
And even when your audience later sees the jersey that says Fly Emirates, I actually call her the Emirates. And I thought I didn't know what you were doing.
Tiff [00:42:24]:
I didn't either. Right over our head.
Reginald Ferguson [00:42:26]:
Right over my head, if you catch that pun. So I think they should stop messing around and just add to their jersey. Always be fly, emirates Yo.
Tiff [00:42:37]:
That's amazing. So sponsor us. That's another sponsor. Always be fly.
Reginald Ferguson [00:42:43]:
Yeah, I knew someone who worked for them. Well, there you go. I need to find them. That's that's a good that I like that. Carlos, you're on the team. Clearly true. Always be fly.
Tiff [00:42:56]:
Always be fly. Well, thank you. I appreciate you answering all my questions.
Reginald Ferguson [00:43:01]:
I'm glad you made it through, Carlos.
Tiff [00:43:02]:
Actually, I have a lot more questions, but time is a problem.
Reginald Ferguson [00:43:07]:
Time is not on our side. But however, Carlos, can you stay for the remaining of our course? Of course. You want to chime in? Of course.
Tiff [00:43:14]:
I think he already knows where our next segment is. He already told us he wants to take it over.
Reginald Ferguson [00:43:19]:
I want to do it live. Yeah, absolutely. Which one is next?
Tiff [00:43:23]:
So we're going to go into our next segment. Segment number two called I Must Have.
Reginald Ferguson [00:43:32]:
It. I must have it. Have it, have it.
Tiff [00:43:41]:
Oh, wow. We don't even have to put in the sound effect. He totally did the sound effect.
Reginald Ferguson [00:43:50]:
Yes. Ladies and gentlemen, just to let you know, there are all of you on itunes or wherever else, but particularly on Know, you could put your commentary, but you'll be putting it after Carlos Ledesma because he was our very first comment. So we're waiting for the remainder.
Tiff [00:44:09]:
Can we let them know where they can find us on Instagram? Let's take a moment and plug absolutely. Where they can find us on the Insta.
Reginald Ferguson [00:44:17]:
You can find us at New York Fashion Geek. If you want to do the web, you can do Nyfashiongeek.com.
Tiff [00:44:28]:
Looking at Reg being so fly right there.
Reginald Ferguson [00:44:31]:
Well, really, on the Insta, the Insta is really what it's all about.
Tiff [00:44:33]:
The Insta is most up to date as to what we're talking about, our topics and any pictures or images that correspond.
Reginald Ferguson [00:44:41]:
Yeah, that's what's up. I mean, it's not like the website's date is that no one's looking at the website because everyone's looking at Insta, but the website is legit.
Tiff [00:44:49]:
And if you're listening to us and you want to be a guest like our friend Carlos here, you just got to hit us up.
Reginald Ferguson [00:44:56]:
Hit us up.
Tiff [00:44:57]:
DM us on instagram. Right?
Reginald Ferguson [00:44:58]:
Right. Or you can email podcast@nyfashiongeek.com.
Tiff [00:45:04]:
There we go.
Reginald Ferguson [00:45:04]:
We're very available.
Tiff [00:45:05]:
Those are the deets. We'll give them to you at the end of the segment as well.
Reginald Ferguson [00:45:08]:
No doubt.
Tiff [00:45:09]:
So let's move on to the I must have it fashion. So Reg and I, as usual, come prepared with an I must have it item. But apparently our guest has one, too. So how should we do this?
Reginald Ferguson [00:45:21]:
Oh, he has one.
Tiff [00:45:22]:
He says he's ready for I must have it.
Reginald Ferguson [00:45:25]:
If he's got one, let him ride. What you got, Carlos? I'll be really quick because I do want to hear yours. No, we'll table ours. What you got? So I got it, but I did spend about five months looking for the perfect leather bag to carry a laptop. Come to the right place. Yes. Bags. Yes.
Reginald Ferguson [00:45:49]:
I love bags. You know why? Because bags have pockets. Correct, pockets. And that's what I was looking for in one, but that wasn't so wide. All right, let's talk about this. All right. Five months. Let's go back in time.
Tiff [00:46:02]:
I'm ready.
Reginald Ferguson [00:46:02]:
So five months ago, you were like, I need a bag for my laptop. Correct. Now, why did you need a bag for your laptop at that time? Because I felt like I didn't want to use the canvas tote anymore. You were rocking a tote? I was. You had the laptop in there? Yeah. I have very strong opinions about Totes. It'll be another episode for another day. I'm always weird about Totes, but I hear what you're saying.
Reginald Ferguson [00:46:27]:
But you agree. Yeah. And I have totes. I do.
Tiff [00:46:33]:
I'm sure you do. With magazines inside of them? All of them.
Reginald Ferguson [00:46:37]:
Wait, I want to be clear. I want to be clear, ladies and gentlemen and TIFF and Carlos. And search everybody. If I'm rocking a tote bag, I can't speak for Carlos. He'll explain how he rocks it. If I'm rocking it, it's because I have unyieldly type items.
Tiff [00:46:52]:
Yeah, okay.
Reginald Ferguson [00:46:53]:
And maybe I throw a magazine in there. That's all I'm saying.
Tiff [00:46:56]:
Okay.
Reginald Ferguson [00:46:57]:
Gotcha. Yeah. I know I'm keeping magazines in business, so let's go back. So you were like, hey, tote laptop not happening. I totally agree. So I first realized that there weren't those many options that were a little more on the baggy side, kind of too big, oversized. So I finally came across one that I liked and was in a messenger bag, which I know that's a good item. I love messenger bags.
Reginald Ferguson [00:47:23]:
I know you like it. Yes. Keeping them in business. But this I wanted something I could carry. So you want the handle? I wanted the handle. Did you also want the shoulder strap? No, I just wanted the handle. Wow. Even our producer just reacted.
Tiff [00:47:38]:
Wow, okay.
Reginald Ferguson [00:47:38]:
Because I'm like handle and strap.
Tiff [00:47:40]:
That's limited. All right.
Reginald Ferguson [00:47:42]:
No, but he's like, I want it in my hand because I feel like if I'm going to be carrying it, I'm always going to be mindful and not just fill it up with unnecessary things that will add weight to it.
Tiff [00:47:52]:
Oh, look at you, limiting. Unlike me, essential.
Reginald Ferguson [00:47:55]:
Like me. Not only for hair. I'm going to need that.
Tiff [00:47:58]:
Your head is not only for hair. I love it.
Reginald Ferguson [00:48:01]:
Yeah. Okay, so I came across one I don't know if you want me to.
Tiff [00:48:04]:
Say where salivating waiting for you.
Reginald Ferguson [00:48:08]:
Tell me what she's read again. I got it from Paul Smith oh, snap. While he went to Turks and Caicos. Actually, no, I got it at Woodbury Commons.
Tiff [00:48:22]:
Gotta love the way you presented.
Reginald Ferguson [00:48:24]:
Oh, snap. Our favorite store of our producer search. Yeah, I love probably. Yes.
Tiff [00:48:33]:
Let's search about Woodbury Commons for a second.
Reginald Ferguson [00:48:36]:
We have but we will again, because we have in our past. First of all, we know it's the only store complex Search goes to.
Tiff [00:48:43]:
Oh, really?
Reginald Ferguson [00:48:44]:
To get his polo. Ralph Lauren oh, okay.
Tiff [00:48:48]:
That's where I got some of my Polo stuff.
Reginald Ferguson [00:48:52]:
That's your spot. Now. Hold on. Now we have an episode. Yeah, but there's also other places, like physical places. Okay, I understand. But it seemed to be a place that you like to go. It is.
Reginald Ferguson [00:49:08]:
Okay, understood.
Tiff [00:49:11]:
So you got a Paul Smith leather.
Reginald Ferguson [00:49:14]:
Yes. Brown leather.
Tiff [00:49:16]:
Messenger bag?
Reginald Ferguson [00:49:17]:
No, attache. Attache.
Tiff [00:49:21]:
You didn't want to messenger at Whitbury. You didn't want a tote?
Reginald Ferguson [00:49:24]:
No.
Tiff [00:49:24]:
You got an attache. So you can limit what you tote around every day.
Reginald Ferguson [00:49:28]:
Yes. How many pockets does it have? It has one on each side, and then on the inside, it has two on each side, too. So it's a lot of pockets. And then inside it has a protective laptop. Correct. So I can just put it in there right now. Are there days that I still just need to carry a tote? Because what I'm bringing to work is a lot?
Tiff [00:49:50]:
Yes, I was going to ask that question.
Reginald Ferguson [00:49:51]:
Sadly, yes.
Tiff [00:49:53]:
But you're not down with what you wanted. That minimalization.
Reginald Ferguson [00:49:56]:
Yes. I'm still happy with the purchase. Is that leather dope? It's beautiful. Yeah.
Tiff [00:50:03]:
Is it a heavy leather? Is it a lightweight leather? Is it waterproof?
Reginald Ferguson [00:50:07]:
It's not waterproof, and it's a light leather.
Tiff [00:50:10]:
So you don't use it on rainy days?
Reginald Ferguson [00:50:12]:
No.
Tiff [00:50:12]:
Okay. But it's light enough to be toting around and not feeling the burden of the heavy leather in addition to your laptop and whatever else you're bringing with you.
Reginald Ferguson [00:50:21]:
Correct.
Tiff [00:50:21]:
All right, so the name brand is Smith.
Reginald Ferguson [00:50:23]:
Yes. Yes. The name brand is Paul.
Tiff [00:50:26]:
I just wanted to put it out. He's bringing it to the oh. Who also apparently made your floral shirting.
Reginald Ferguson [00:50:34]:
That you're wearing Paul Smith shirt. You got to coordinate, Marcus. Coordinate. I know. I just want to chime in here. I don't think this was ever discussed. I have a Smith bag.
Tiff [00:50:45]:
Oh, of course you do, Reg. I think you have every hey.
Reginald Ferguson [00:50:49]:
Hey. Yes. I'm keeping bags in business. My bags have bags.
Tiff [00:50:53]:
Yeah.
Reginald Ferguson [00:50:53]:
I have a Paul Smith leather messenger. It's Dope. Yeah.
Tiff [00:51:00]:
Nice.
Reginald Ferguson [00:51:00]:
I did not go to Woodbury Common. No offense. It's okay. I did not go to Woodbury Common. I went to Paul Smith. Oh, you went to the real deal. I'm the real deal, but I got it on sale. If I could say that.
Reginald Ferguson [00:51:17]:
It's a sale at Paul Smith, ladies and gentlemen, not small Smith. It's quite an undertaking. It looks kind of like that, but without the stripes. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, geek number two, Tiffany. Just tried to show me yeah. Just tried to show my boy Ledesma. Was it this? Was it this?
Tiff [00:51:41]:
Because I always have to read, paul.
Reginald Ferguson [00:51:43]:
Smith has a lot of bad oh, second try. Okay, second try. That's pretty good. My whole point is, Carlos, unbeknownst to you, we are Paul Smith brothers. Yes, that's what I'm saying.
Tiff [00:51:55]:
So what I found that he has is called the contrast tipped textured leather briefcase. It comes in at 495 pounds.
Reginald Ferguson [00:52:04]:
That's a heavy bag.
Tiff [00:52:07]:
I'm talking price.
Reginald Ferguson [00:52:09]:
Yeah, that's a foreign joke.
Tiff [00:52:10]:
Oh. But it has a cute little striped, colorful little interior pocket. Very nice. I like it.
Reginald Ferguson [00:52:17]:
That's part of the Paul Smith logo, the colors.
Tiff [00:52:19]:
Yeah. And it's very, I would say, economical in its design. It just only what it needs. Beautiful. Very sleek. Very nice. Thank you for bringing that to us. I really like it a lot.
Tiff [00:52:32]:
I like the zippers in particular. They are monogrammed with Paul Smith's name, and they come to a little diamond point, which is special. They look heavyweight. And he also has a little signature on the side of his bag with his name Paul Smith. Very a monogram. We talked about monograms last week.
Reginald Ferguson [00:52:48]:
Essentially, what we're saying is Carlos's Fly.
Tiff [00:52:50]:
I think he made the right choice. He didn't even have to go. He went out on his own and did this on his own.
Reginald Ferguson [00:52:57]:
No, that's why I don't think he can be a client.
Tiff [00:52:59]:
I think he's already dope bag free man.
Reginald Ferguson [00:53:03]:
Very dope cut. There's always room for improvement. Oh, you're so nice.
Tiff [00:53:08]:
Well, thank you for bringing that. Shall we talk about our must? I think our I must have it item is kind of perfect. No, I think we should get right.
Reginald Ferguson [00:53:19]:
Into fashion word of the day. Of the day.
Tiff [00:53:30]:
All right, let's move on.
Reginald Ferguson [00:53:32]:
Can I do it live? Yeah. Okay. Wait, Carlos, do you also have a fashion word of the day, too? Of course.
Tiff [00:53:40]:
No, I want to hear your no, this is going to be perfect.
Reginald Ferguson [00:53:43]:
Okay. All right. And this one we'll do three. Okay, so it's three of us. We all have separate words. So that means two are going to be stumped, potentially.
Tiff [00:53:53]:
All right, so what do we mean by the fashion word of the day? Let's talk to what we mean by that is we're bringing a term used in fashion to each of us. And now, Carlos, who's going to be three of us, and we're going to ask you to define it. We're going to ask you to use it in a sentence.
Reginald Ferguson [00:54:13]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:54:13]:
Because and spell it. Oh, I almost forgot about the spelling part. So since you're the guest we have to let the guests go first. So you have both reg and I Who would you like to present your fashion?
Reginald Ferguson [00:54:26]:
Both of us?
Tiff [00:54:27]:
Yeah, so either one of us can respond. Okay.
Reginald Ferguson [00:54:30]:
Imagine there is a buzzer. Oh, we have that. Without hitting the table. No, we have that. That's what our producers for, right?
Tiff [00:54:38]:
All right. So, Carlos, what is your fashion word?
Reginald Ferguson [00:54:41]:
Fashion word of the day. It's dicky. With that accent. Dicky. Oh, dicky.
Tiff [00:54:48]:
A dicky.
Reginald Ferguson [00:54:49]:
Absolutely.
Tiff [00:54:50]:
A dicky.
Reginald Ferguson [00:54:51]:
Oh, my gosh. That's such an old school term. I'm going to Botch it, but I'm still going to go for it. I totally know what a dickie is.
Tiff [00:54:57]:
You're going to spell it?
Reginald Ferguson [00:54:58]:
I could spell it. We'll both spell it together. Let's see if we mess up. Ready? One, two you're both correct. There's three ways to spell it. Boom.
Tiff [00:55:11]:
What's the third way?
Reginald Ferguson [00:55:12]:
D-I-C-K-Y-E whoa. I never knew that.
Tiff [00:55:17]:
I knew about the two spellings. I did not know about the third.
Reginald Ferguson [00:55:20]:
Yeah, I found it.
Tiff [00:55:23]:
Is it a language thing? Depending on what language dickies are talking.
Reginald Ferguson [00:55:26]:
About, I think so.
Tiff [00:55:28]:
Okay, since you're from Argentina, maybe the Spanish spell it differently.
Reginald Ferguson [00:55:32]:
No, this is an English word. Still British, right?
Tiff [00:55:36]:
Well, it's an English word that can be used throughout the world depending on it's a fashion item that is global.
Reginald Ferguson [00:55:45]:
Agree. I think what I'm saying is it's English versus American. That's what I'm saying, right? Oh, yeah. That's a good point. Okay, so who wants to use reg.
Tiff [00:55:54]:
Is ready to dive in.
Reginald Ferguson [00:55:56]:
Yeah, it's funny because I totally know what it is because my grandparents, particularly my grandma, would always use this. But now I'm trying to find my way for the definition. Essentially, it's a piece of cotton wrapped around your neck, correct? Yeah. I mean, that's really it.
Tiff [00:56:14]:
That spills into and tucked into your.
Reginald Ferguson [00:56:18]:
Shirt or your west coat, but it doesn't have to.
Tiff [00:56:21]:
Or it could be outside, but it doesn't have to if it's lace, flurry and whatever. Right.
Reginald Ferguson [00:56:27]:
Not even lace. It could have solo. Yeah.
Tiff [00:56:29]:
Or it could be flat. Puritans shout out to my grandparents all the time. Am I right?
Reginald Ferguson [00:56:35]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:56:35]:
Did I just make my sentence? I just made my sentence.
Reginald Ferguson [00:56:38]:
What was the sentence?
Tiff [00:56:39]:
Puritans wore dickies every day.
Reginald Ferguson [00:56:43]:
Wow. TIFF. That was a good sentence because, you know, sometimes with your sentences yeah. It's erratic.
Tiff [00:56:49]:
I'm either 100% or not.
Reginald Ferguson [00:56:51]:
That was good. Wow. Man, I can't wait to hear all those bells on the sound effects because we rocked that shit. Excuse me.
Tiff [00:56:59]:
Very nice. Very nice. Very nice. Shall we move on?
Reginald Ferguson [00:57:01]:
Yes.
Tiff [00:57:02]:
All right.
Reginald Ferguson [00:57:03]:
Reg, no.
Tiff [00:57:05]:
Oh, you want me go?
Reginald Ferguson [00:57:06]:
Of course.
Tiff [00:57:06]:
Okay, so let me look at my list. What should I bring? Chalk? Stripe?
Reginald Ferguson [00:57:17]:
I mean, I know what it is. Well, first we have to spell it chalkstripe. Two words, right? Yes, it's two words.
Tiff [00:57:26]:
Discerning that it's. Two words for the listener. Yes.
Reginald Ferguson [00:57:28]:
It's two words chalk stripe. Definition I could easily use in a sentence, but definition, it's a wide stripe used in a pattern in wool. It's wider than a pin. That's why it's a chalk. That's all I've got. What do you have? Or is it the chalk lines that you use when you're cutting a mole for a jacket or a piece of wardrobe?
Tiff [00:57:55]:
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
Reginald Ferguson [00:57:56]:
Oh, my God. Wow.
Tiff [00:57:59]:
Mr. LeDez actually, it's a combination of what you both said. Let me read. Proper definition. Vertical lines on a suit fabric designed to look like the color of a tailor's chalk. So that's where you come in there. The lines are subtle and hazy compared to the crisp, distinct lines of pinstripe. So a chalk stripe is in the finished garment, but it's very light as opposed to the very defined pinstripe.
Tiff [00:58:28]:
And it refers back to tailoring back in the day when they used to chalk your product before it was finished.
Reginald Ferguson [00:58:36]:
Well, amazing.
Tiff [00:58:37]:
Who wants to use it in a sentence?
Reginald Ferguson [00:58:39]:
Go on, Carlos. Oh, my God. I remember seeing the tailor working on a chalk stripe that does not work. You go rich. It was okay. I remember my first chalk stripe blazer when I was in high school. But I'm happy to know now that as an adult, I have a chalk stripe suit. Boom.
Reginald Ferguson [00:59:09]:
Wow.
Tiff [00:59:10]:
There we go. Very nicely done. Very nicely done.
Reginald Ferguson [00:59:13]:
Teamwork makes the dream work.
Tiff [00:59:15]:
My turn, my turn.
Reginald Ferguson [00:59:16]:
Bring it. Well, both your turns. It's three people here.
Tiff [00:59:20]:
Oh, I'm sorry.
Reginald Ferguson [00:59:21]:
Fashion word of the day. Carlos and Tiffany moleskin. Oh. Can I spell it? Yes. M-O-L-E-S-K-I-N-E-N-I-N put an S. Yes. Okay. Yeah.
Reginald Ferguson [00:59:37]:
Eliminate the E. Very nice.
Tiff [00:59:39]:
Very nice. Very nice.
Reginald Ferguson [00:59:41]:
Yeah, like the note, right? That's what I was thinking. All right, do you guys have a definition?
Tiff [00:59:47]:
I do.
Reginald Ferguson [00:59:48]:
What do you have?
Tiff [00:59:49]:
It's a type of sort of thick fabric that's used to help abate blisters when wearing shoes that are new or ill fitted. That's how I use mole skin.
Reginald Ferguson [01:00:08]:
Carlos that's the Doctor shows edition. Tiffany that's going to get a bonus search, just to let you know. Carlos, what do you have? I'm just going to throw something there. Do it. Is it the fabric that goes inside a fancy shoe? You're both on this Dr. Scholes tip.
Tiff [01:00:33]:
I know what you're going for. Go ahead.
Reginald Ferguson [01:00:35]:
It's a strong and heavily mapped twilled cotton fabric.
Tiff [01:00:38]:
Moleskin.
Reginald Ferguson [01:00:41]:
Well, there'll be no need for a sentence under, pretty much. We left a little bit on a downer.
Tiff [01:00:49]:
So, Reg, help us out with the moleskin. What's the application for that fabric?
Reginald Ferguson [01:00:55]:
You could use it for a jacket. You could use it for mean it's cotton, for crying out loud. It could be a pattern on the shoe. So it has a manifold of applications.
Tiff [01:01:06]:
OOH, manifold. I like it when he uses big words.
Reginald Ferguson [01:01:09]:
That was a good one. Anyway, as my cousin would say, that is a wrap. Thank you so much for listening.
Tiff [01:01:19]:
What a big show.
Reginald Ferguson [01:01:20]:
Yeah, absolutely.
Tiff [01:01:22]:
Every time we have a guest, we have a really, really big show in.
Reginald Ferguson [01:01:25]:
More ways than one. We hope you had fun. Down for another one. Please tell your friends about us. Special shout out goes to our producer Search, who seemed to really enjoy this one.
Tiff [01:01:35]:
And we want to also thank our guest Carlos carlos Alberto La Desma. La Desma.
Reginald Ferguson [01:01:43]:
He's always going to love that. When I met him, I was like, your name? What? La Desma. And he was like, you know how to say my name? I'm like yes. Yes, I do. That's true. Yes, I do. For four years, I had a classmate named John Polodesma. He lives in California now.
Tiff [01:01:56]:
You can find him on his Instagram or on the New York fashion geek. Instagram.
Reginald Ferguson [01:02:01]:
Yes. But his instagram is Carlos Alberto Ledesma. L-E-D-S-L-E-D-E. Pardon me. S-M-A.
Tiff [01:02:13]:
There we go. It's a long one, but it is.
Reginald Ferguson [01:02:15]:
I know it is.
Tiff [01:02:16]:
Worth the search.
Reginald Ferguson [01:02:17]:
Worth it. Oh, yes. That was clever.
Tiff [01:02:20]:
Worth the search.
Reginald Ferguson [01:02:21]:
Oh, I didn't yeah, that's our prediction.
Tiff [01:02:23]:

Reginald Ferguson [01:02:59]:
New York fashion geek. Hit me up. Yeah. Thank you. I just want to say thank you. I'm so happy I got to do oh, no. We're really happy to have you. We love having guests.
Tiff [01:03:09]:
We feel the warm and fuzzies from you. And it's not just the lint on your.
Reginald Ferguson [01:03:15]:
Lint on this man's jacket. Why are you doing this? TIFF.
Tiff [01:03:19]:
TIFF.
Reginald Ferguson [01:03:19]:
We need him back for another time. Come on. Stop.
Tiff [01:03:22]:
He's going to be our fashion geek number three before you know it.
