Reginald Ferguson [00:00:01]: Hello. I'm Reg. Tiff [00:00:02]: And I'm Tiff. And we're the fashion geeks. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:04]: Trying to make New York. Tiff [00:00:06]: And the world. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:06]: Well, New York is the world. Tiff [00:00:07]: A little flyer, one outfit Reginald Ferguson [00:00:09]: And Tiff [00:00:17]: You're You're always happy, Reggie. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:20]: No. I know. But I just feel like these episodes are like lightning in a bottle because, you know, you may do a Carmen San diego on us again. Tiff [00:00:27]: Impop. Where in the world is Tiffany Menett Till Shriver? Reginald Ferguson [00:00:29]: Exactly. Tiff [00:00:31]: I'm I'll always come back, Reg. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:32]: I appreciate that. Tiff [00:00:33]: I just my home. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:34]: I know. I just don't like the big gaps of time. Impop Tiff [00:00:36]: Aw. Because you miss me. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:38]: Anyway, I'm fashion geek number 1, Reg Ferguson. Tiff [00:00:41]: And I'm fashion geek number 2, Tiffany Minotel Shriver. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:44]: Aka the one to be missed. Tiff [00:00:46]: And we are here to help you with all of your menswear questions, desires, needs, And pop. Concerns. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:54]: You need to be fly, guys. Tiff [00:00:56]: You need to be fly. Reginald Ferguson [00:00:58]: And ladies who have guys. That's Tiff [00:01:00]: right. You can always Reginald Ferguson [00:01:01]: help. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. I try Tiff [00:01:03]: to help my husband. Reginald Ferguson [00:01:04]: It's a team effort. Tiff [00:01:05]: It is sometimes. It really is. Because, you know, you look at yourself, and you you're looking at yourself subjectively. It's always great to have somebody looking at you, objectively to help you get a different perspective on what you're looking at. And that's where you come in, Rich, as a fashion stylist and consultant. Reginald Ferguson [00:01:21]: Yeah. Yeah. I really feel I'm a consultant. I feel I give a lot of respect to stylists. Tiff [00:01:26]: And pop. Are we oh, there is okay. What's the distinction? Reginald Ferguson [00:01:29]: I mean Tiff [00:01:29]: Let's make that here. Reginald Ferguson [00:01:30]: I've made the distinction. Meaning, it's not like you're gonna see me at a shoot per se. It's more about dealing with individual men and resolving problems. Tiff [00:01:42]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:01:43]: That's really what this is about. Tiff [00:01:44]: Wow. Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:01:46]: So that's why I view it as a consultancy. How do we make you better? How do we make you feel better through your clothing? Tiff [00:01:53]: And look better. Reginald Ferguson [00:01:54]: Exactly. So Tiff [00:01:57]: That sounds fun. Reginald Ferguson [00:01:58]: It is. I love doing it. Tiff [00:01:59]: Alright. Cool. Got any clients coming up? Reginald Ferguson [00:02:02]: I met someone recently, And it's always it's always just fingers crossed. So the more people you meet, the more opportunities you have. Tiff [00:02:12]: And just to be clear, we're not just talking about suits tier. Right? We're just talking about No. Reginald Ferguson [00:02:16]: No. No. I mean, I know I'm a suit and tie guy, and that's really represented pictorially. But no. It goes from it goes from suits down to casual. Tiff [00:02:26]: Down to jeans. Reginald Ferguson [00:02:27]: Dungarees. Tiff [00:02:28]: Dungarees. Reginald Ferguson [00:02:29]: Yes. Tiff [00:02:29]: And speaking of jeans, Levi's is in the news. Reginald Ferguson [00:02:33]: Yeah. Tiff [00:02:33]: Did you read that? Reginald Ferguson [00:02:34]: Yes. I did. I'm really, I'm really impressed with this because fashion can do a lot of things, And fashion, I have always felt, is political. Tiff [00:02:45]: Yep. Well, wherever well, these days, wherever fashion and and politics cross, there's always, And pop. Fireworks. Reginald Ferguson [00:02:53]: Oh, man. That was, quite a pun because aren't we talking about gun violence in Levi's, TIFF? Tiff [00:03:00]: Yes, we are. Reginald Ferguson [00:03:01]: Wow. That was quite See, Tiff [00:03:02]: I slid that right in. I didn't even celebrate it. Reginald Ferguson [00:03:04]: Yeah. That was, that was something. Tiff [00:03:08]: So what what do we, what did Levi's do? What what has Levi's done? Shall we let let's let the, listeners in. Reginald Ferguson [00:03:14]: Sure. Tiff [00:03:15]: An article that, we both read. Reginald Ferguson [00:03:18]: Sure. Well, for the past few years, they have really put their money where their mouth is in terms of being an advocate for stronger gun laws, and that all stemmed from a situation they had at one of their stores. Tiff [00:03:33]: In Georgia, Guy walks in to the store. Guy goes into the changing room to try on Levi's. Guy shoots himself in the foot with a with his gun that's in his pocket. Reginald Ferguson [00:03:48]: Yep. What? That's dangerous. Are you Tiff [00:03:51]: sure that didn't happen in Florida? Reginald Ferguson [00:03:53]: It happened in the South, Tiff. As a Northerner No. That's all that matters. Tiff [00:03:58]: Cannot say that. Reginald Ferguson [00:04:00]: I just did. You set it up. That. Set me up. Tiff [00:04:03]: Right. So, the CEO of, Levi Strauss, Chip Berg, said, you know what? No. Mm-mm. This, this could have been you could have shot one of my employees. You could have Reginald Ferguson [00:04:16]: shot Absolutely. This would have been very dangerous. Tiff [00:04:19]: Customers. And pop. He sent out a letter after that saying, please do not because in the south, some of the states, you're allowed to carry Reginald Ferguson [00:04:27]: Open carry. Tiff [00:04:27]: Carry a weapon as long as you have a permit. And pop. My father did. Scary, scary. And, and you literally, at least in my town in North Carolina, have signs that on different shops. Some shops have said, please do not bring your gun in here, basically. Reginald Ferguson [00:04:44]: Wow. Tiff [00:04:45]: Yeah. So you have to leave your gun in the car. But I guess, Levi Strauss had not done that, and this guy walked in with this gun and, shot himself. So, after that, mister Berg sent a letter out saying, please do not bring your guns in here. So I guess that's that's when he decided to do that. But After the Parkland shoot that happened, what, in 2016? I think that's what it was. And then the Parkland shoot didn't happen in, in Florida. And he was like, he's like, that's it. Tiff [00:05:17]: And he put $1,000,000. He put his money where his mouth is, and he put up $1,000,000, created a fund to support organizations who, really strive to establish common sense regulations and laws, preventing guns being in the hands of people who really should not own guns. So they're advocating for responsible, gun selling. They're not saying you can't own a gun. They're not trying to get rid of your was your 2nd amendment right to own a gun. Levi Strauss is not interested in banning guns. They just want to be, And pop. Want to establish more rules, more laws, whatever is needed so that if people have issues and they really shouldn't be handling a gun that they cannot get a gun because that's that's the the the basis of a lot of nonsense violence in this world. Tiff [00:06:11]: And children, children, because school shootings are every day almost. There's a school shooting every week these days. It's normal now, which is heartbreaking. Reginald Ferguson [00:06:23]: It is. Tiff [00:06:24]: Very heartbreaking. So I was very happy when I when I read this article. Very, very happy. Reginald Ferguson [00:06:29]: No. I'm impressed. I mean, more companies beyond fashion should wanna do this. Tiff [00:06:35]: So I I agree. And I he did something kinda similar well, not similar. Well, he took a stand back in 1992. He, he pulled Levi's sponsorship out of the Boy Scouts because of they had the gay band. And he's like, I'm sorry. I cannot, I cannot we cannot abide by that. And then he got a lot of hateful, hateful he said he got, like, a 100,000 hateful letters Reginald Ferguson [00:06:56]: Wow. Tiff [00:06:57]: From, people saying, we're gonna boycott. We're gonna boycott. And he's he didn't he didn't he didn't waver. He stood, and he he said, actually, You know, I just I I couldn't waver. And whatever happens, happens. You know? It was my one of the thing if we stand on the sidelines, We're not really fulfilling our full responsibility to the world, and it didn't hurt his business. His business is, has profited, the most the past decade. The the most in the last 6 quarters, I think it says, than in the past a decade. Tiff [00:07:27]: So they're doing well. Reginald Ferguson [00:07:28]: Impressive. I Tiff [00:07:31]: like that. I like that taking a stand, and and I'm gonna go buy me some Levi's now. Reginald Ferguson [00:07:36]: Good. Tiff [00:07:36]: Because I don't I don't own a pair. Reginald Ferguson [00:07:38]: What? Tiff [00:07:39]: Can you believe that? Reginald Ferguson [00:07:40]: I don't. Tiff [00:07:41]: I used to own Levi's, and then I just sort of moved. I moved to other brands. Reginald Ferguson [00:07:45]: Like, what other brands? Tiff [00:07:47]: I like Lucky Lucky brands, and I like Gap. I wear the Gap. And pop. I have a a special body. And Reginald Ferguson [00:07:57]: Okay. Tiff [00:07:58]: And those jeans fit me really well. So Reginald Ferguson [00:08:02]: Well, come back home, Tiff. Tiff [00:08:03]: Okay. I'm gonna go get me a pair of Levi dungarees. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:06]: There you go. Tiff [00:08:07]: Yay, Levi. Yay. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:09]: Yeah. Absolutely. Tiff [00:08:11]: So that's what's in the news today. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:13]: Cool. You know what? Tiff [00:08:16]: Know what? Reginald Ferguson [00:08:16]: There's a lot of fashion fools out there, Tiff. Fashion Tiff [00:08:23]: Fools. Oh, that's right. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:30]: Let's do it. Tiff [00:08:31]: We we have, we have a newish kinda segment, which Can't be new now. We've this will be the 3rd time, 4th time we've, done the fashion fool. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:39]: Right. That's why I said let's do it. Tiff [00:08:40]: Alright. This is a segment where we talk about, the foolish things that fashionable people are doing in in the in the news. And, who do we have, Reg? Reginald Ferguson [00:08:51]: Gucci again. Tiff [00:08:52]: Again. What's the f? Beep. I wasn't gonna say it. I promise. Reginald Ferguson [00:09:00]: Good. Tiff [00:09:00]: I mean, but really, come on. What happened? Reginald Ferguson [00:09:03]: Well, you know what happened. Tiff [00:09:04]: Alright. They got a Reginald Ferguson [00:09:06]: they were selling a turban. Tiff [00:09:08]: A sick tur sick turban. Reginald Ferguson [00:09:10]: Sick. Tiff [00:09:13]: Yeah. On Nordstrom, Reginald Ferguson [00:09:14]: Don't get sick. Talk about the Sikhs. Tiff [00:09:16]: In pop. This past week, they, they they, on sale, they're for $790, this bright blue Wow. Turban, And pop. Sikh turban, advertised as as headwear, you know, something to go out and wear Reginald Ferguson [00:09:32]: at night. Yes. Tiff [00:09:33]: If you're a Sikh. And, And pop. It was, on a white model, and it was a the guy was on a runway, and he was rocking his evening gear, with this turban, which is a religious, headgear worn by the Sikhs. And, It was it was, something that was very shocking to people. I can I can imagine why? Reginald Ferguson [00:09:59]: Understatement. Tiff [00:09:59]: And pop. But what was interesting about this, it was this week that the the Sikh community, I guess, were finally heard because this came out on the runway in February of 2018, by the way. Now that's over a year ago that this was on the runway. And the Sikh community did in Milan. They did say something, but it sort of fell by the wayside. Reginald Ferguson [00:10:22]: Wow. Tiff [00:10:22]: And pop. But then it just appeared on the Nordstrom website on sale, and I think a lot more eyes because of the web, the Internet, A lot more eyes got a got ahold of it. And with, Gucci's bad behavior of recent, months, I think it's just a matter of time before this blew up. So again. Reginald Ferguson [00:10:45]: Again. Tiff [00:10:47]: So their diversity council clearly, And pop. Reginald Ferguson [00:10:51]: Slipped through the cracks. Tiff [00:10:52]: Yeah. Needs to, be a little bit more diligent on their, new roles, I think. Reginald Ferguson [00:10:59]: Looking at my Gucci, it's about that time. Tiff [00:11:02]: What time, Reg? Reginald Ferguson [00:11:04]: Insensitivity time. It's just time to get things right. And pop. Tiff [00:11:09]: It's absolutely time to get things right. I thought you were gonna start burning stuff. Reginald Ferguson [00:11:13]: No. I told you. I only have a watch. Tiff [00:11:15]: Oh, okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:11:16]: It's a old school watch. I barely rock it. I love it. I'm not tossing it. So I applaud what they're trying to do. This just, unfortunately, has, has some taint. Tiff [00:11:31]: That has a lot of taint. Are you of the mind of 3 strikes? You're out. We'll give them one more chance. Reginald Ferguson [00:11:38]: I haven't thought about it like that, though. I am a baseball fan. So I Tiff [00:11:42]: knew that. That's why I Oh. Reginald Ferguson [00:11:44]: My dick. Oh. You're a Yankees fan. I am. That was clever. So, I mean, the jury's out. We're gonna we're going to pay attention with this new category. So Tiff [00:11:55]: Interestingly enough, Nordstrom apologized. They absolutely apologize. They took it off the website. It's no longer available. Gucci hasn't said a word that I could find as of yesterday. Reginald Ferguson [00:12:07]: I guess they're like, see what we did with this whole thing with DAP? Look, that's all you need to know. So Tiff [00:12:15]: We're working on it. You think that's what they're trying to say? Reginald Ferguson [00:12:18]: I think so, but I don't know. I mean, I'm not their PR team. Tiff [00:12:21]: Alright. Well, interesting. I would think that they would say something and get right out in front of this. Reginald Ferguson [00:12:27]: Sheesh. Tiff [00:12:29]: Frustrating. Reginald Ferguson [00:12:30]: It is. Let's talk about something that has no political controversy. Tiff [00:12:36]: What? Reginald Ferguson [00:12:37]: My I must have it item. I must have it. Oh. What? Tiff [00:12:53]: And pop. When you told me about this, I was like, what? I don't know. What? What do you mean you Reginald Ferguson [00:12:58]: don't know? It Woah. Woah. Woah. Woah. Woah. Woah. Woah. Woah. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:01]: Woah. Woah. Woah. Tiff [00:13:01]: It seemed a little too cutesy Imposs. See for you. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:03]: Hey. I could be cute. Tiff [00:13:07]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:08]: That's right. So we've talked about in a previous episode about my love for a Mickey Mouse watch, Which finally, at long last, was consummated last Tiff [00:13:17]: year. Oh, yeah? Reginald Ferguson [00:13:18]: Yes. It brought me to tears. Shout out to House of Hartendorf for making that happen. A close second, however, is a Snoopy watch. Tiff [00:13:27]: A Snoopy watch. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:29]: Oh, man. I'll I'll Tiff [00:13:31]: Would you wear them side by side, 1 with 1 next to the other? Reginald Ferguson [00:13:34]: Like, the old Watch Tiff [00:13:35]: the date. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:35]: I had Tiff [00:13:35]: 2 watches. When you wore, like, 3 watches at the same time. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:38]: I had 2. I had 2. Tiff [00:13:39]: And then those rubber bangles? Reginald Ferguson [00:13:41]: Yes. Those well, I didn't do rubber bangles. I'm a guy. But I I like the rest of the Peanuts gang, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Schroeder, but Snoopy is my guy. And last year, Todd Snyder released his Peanuts Timex collabo. Freaking love them, Impop special because the characters are in slightly different positions versus back in the day. Tiff [00:14:07]: I was gonna And why they're so special? Reginald Ferguson [00:14:10]: Because I I haven't seen them in these positions. Tiff [00:14:14]: What do you mean by Reginald Ferguson [00:14:15]: the position? Like, for example, like Snoopy. They have 2 Snoopy watchers, guys. Tiff [00:14:19]: Oh. 2. Oh, I didn't see the second one. Reginald Ferguson [00:14:21]: 1 is when he's doing his famous dancing. Tiff [00:14:24]: His dance with the feet, And pop. The paddle feet? Reginald Ferguson [00:14:27]: Yeah. So that's cool. And another one just of his face, which is a red faced watch. That's the one I like. I like that Tiff [00:14:34]: one. Snoopy's face. I don't know if I've ever seen any artwork with Reginald Ferguson [00:14:38]: just Snoopy's face. Man. Aw. It's so cool. Tiff [00:14:42]: You're, like, 12 years old right now. Reginald Ferguson [00:14:46]: I loved those character watches growing up, and I never was able to have one. So we're a lot more practical family. So that was that was whimsy. So You Tiff [00:14:56]: can't have whimsy and practical together until now. Yeah. Thanks to Todd Snyder. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:03]: Oh, man. Tiff [00:15:03]: Who is he? Who is Todd Snyder? Let's talk Reginald Ferguson [00:15:05]: about that. Well, he's American designer. We talked about him recently When we were talking about Converse and doing stuff for pride, I I briefly mentioned that Todd Snyder also Tiff [00:15:17]: Yep. He's doing stuff. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:18]: Yeah. He's doing stuff for pride. So Tiff [00:15:21]: He collaborated with champion as well. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:22]: Yes. Oh, they have they have a Peanuts champion collection as well. Tiff [00:15:26]: And pop. Really? So we collaborate. That's a three way. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:29]: Oh, man. Tiff [00:15:30]: Wow. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:30]: He's doing it to me. And I know where the store is. I know where you are, mister Snyder. Tiff [00:15:36]: Oh, bridge is coming. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:38]: Yeah. I don't not right now. But I definitely want the the red faced peanuts watch. That's it's fire. That's so cool. Tiff [00:15:48]: Well, I have to go online and see it. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:50]: No. I can just go you can go online. I just go to the store. It's across the street from Madison Square Park. Tiff [00:15:54]: I'm trying to call it up right now on my tablet so I can see it because I don't know if I saw that one. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:58]: It's only going for $99. Tiff [00:16:00]: And that oh, yes. All those watches are on sale, by the way. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:03]: Yes. Charlie Brown is 79, but all the others are 90. Tiff [00:16:07]: Charlie Brown just 79? Reginald Ferguson [00:16:09]: Because he's a blockhead. Tiff [00:16:11]: And by the way, did you mention that these are Timex? Yes. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:14]: I did. I said the collabo. Absolutely. Tiff [00:16:16]: I don't know. I'd they're very cute. I'm waiting for my, tablet to load. But anyway Reginald Ferguson [00:16:22]: They're cool. Tiff [00:16:23]: But what was even cuter is watching you talk Reginald Ferguson [00:16:26]: about it. Tiff [00:16:27]: Because we did, we had a segment on watches in the prior podcast, and, and this is quite different from that watch we were talking about. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:34]: Oh, yes. This is not. Tiff [00:16:35]: This is a $99 watch. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:36]: Yes. The 99, not the RS 65. Tiff [00:16:40]: And I and I think the 99 is a very reasonable price for a watch. Absolutely. Especially if it's Timex. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:46]: Cute. It's a great deal. Tiff [00:16:48]: Alright. Everybody run out and get your Snoopy watch. You can also get Linus. And, who was there was 1 other character. Was it Charlie Brown? Reginald Ferguson [00:16:56]: Oh, it's definitely Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Tiff [00:16:58]: Linus. Linus. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:59]: I don't believe there are any others. I'm not certain. Snoopy's all I'm worried about. Tiff [00:17:05]: Alright. So shall we move on to the next segment. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:10]: Absolutely. Fashion word of the day. Tiff [00:17:12]: Fashion word of the day. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:20]: Fashion word of the day. Tiff [00:17:25]: This This is where the competition begins. The gloves go off. Yeah. We step into the ring, and we battle each other intimidating. With words. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:34]: Don't call it a comeback. Tiff [00:17:37]: Fashion words. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:38]: Yes. Tiff [00:17:39]: Combat fashion words. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:41]: Really? Tiff [00:17:42]: Combat of fashion words. And pop. Can't we can't call it that? Reginald Ferguson [00:17:45]: Are we combating through fashion words? Is that what you're saying? Tiff [00:17:47]: I guess. I don't know. Is there a problem there? Reginald Ferguson [00:17:49]: No. I thought you had some type of terms that related to combat in fashion. Tiff [00:17:53]: No. Like camo flowers. Very nice. I have I like the camo. I rock a pair of camo shoes every now and again. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:01]: Oh, look at that. Tiff [00:18:02]: Yep. And pop. Alright. So fashion word of the day is when we each bring a word based in fashion, and, we try to stump each other with what that word me what it means and how it's spelled. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:13]: Yes. Tiff [00:18:13]: And then we use in a sentence because it's fun. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:15]: Yes. Good. You've been good. Tiff [00:18:18]: And, And, Rejean, I went 1st the last time, so Reginald Ferguson [00:18:21]: I'm gonna let you go Tiff [00:18:22]: 1st this time. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:23]: Oh, no. You could go. No. You can Tiff [00:18:26]: go. Alright. Fine. Pleat. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:27]: Pleat. Tiff [00:18:27]: Yep. P l e a t. Mhmm. I think we've done pleat before. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:33]: I think Tiff [00:18:34]: I think pleat was my word on the prior episode. Crap. Yep. And pop. So I've that means I better get this right. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:40]: Yeah. You better knock it out the park. Tiff [00:18:42]: Pleat is, a pleat is most The time you see them in a pair of gentleman's slacks, it's, it's normally at the waistband, and it's when the fabric is folded folded over itself and stitched to, to create a little fullness while at the bottom of the stitch. That is a pleat. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:59]: Drats. Sentence? Tiff [00:19:05]: Back in the eighties, I rocked my plea pleated jeans, Monday through Friday. Oh, yeah. Reginald Ferguson [00:19:15]: That's kind of a weird sentence. Tiff [00:19:16]: I know it was. It was that was, you know It's a Reginald Ferguson [00:19:18]: little choppy. Tiff [00:19:19]: Whatever.
