Tiff [00:04:38]: You don't have to put everything on your life, in your life on Instagram. I I you know, certain things I mean, I'm saying it's okay you didn't put it on your Instagram because, you know, you gotta do things personal. Reginald Ferguson [00:04:48]: I also slowed up on the Gram a little bit, ladies and gentlemen. I wasn't feeling well a few weeks ago, and then, you know, when you're not feeling well, you're just laying in your bed. You don't. And speaking of, so, you know, we've been we've been off for almost a month, and, I'm sure, however, you have not slowed down your shopping game. I'm sure that had mean. Uh-huh. No matter how bad you feel, you can't beat Impop. You can't beat a sale. You can't beat a fashion find. Tiff [00:06:50]: You gotta get out there. And I, you you shared with me, or a little birdie did, that you found something Impop. Amazing. What was it? What was it? Reginald Ferguson [00:07:00]: Yeah. Yeah. Tiff [00:07:01]: Yeah. Come on. Dish it. Reginald Ferguson [00:07:03]: I found, I was in a bad mood, so I stumbled onto a sale. And, just looking around. Tiff [00:07:14]: Little retail therapy going on? Reginald Ferguson [00:07:16]: Yeah. Just killing time. Just just, you know, walking around, Looking at a very high level Italian brand. It should remain nameless. Tiff [00:07:27]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:07:28]: And stumping around, really looking for a client along with just trying to enjoy myself because I really greet get great pleasure Looking at brands, looking at merch. There's no question about that. Right. All jokes aside. So going through some blazers, thinking about a client of mine, because I don't need a blazer. My blazers have blazers. My sport jackets got sport jackets. But These were retailing for, let's say, minimum don't quote me, but minimum, let's say, 2 g's up to, like, 6 g's probably. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:02]: And I found 1 retailing for 5 and change. Tiff [00:08:09]: Impa. Come on. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:10]: That was before the discount. Tiff [00:08:13]: Spill it. Spill it. Spill it. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:14]: They had a 75% discount. Essentially, I got the jacket for 1.45, and with tax, 1.50. Tiff [00:08:22]: What? Reginald Ferguson [00:08:22]: Yep. Wow. Even even Search lit up, our producer. And he's, you know, Poe Ralph Lauren, ride or die. Right? Tiff [00:08:29]: So I have a question. What's the difference between a blazer and a sport jacket? And pop. Aren't they the same? Reginald Ferguson [00:08:35]: Yeah. I don't I don't wanna split hairs. Yeah. We we can say it's the same. Okay. Tiff [00:08:38]: Because you when you just for this When you said it, you said blazer. It has blazers. My sport jacket It says projection. Yeah. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:44]: Well, that was just for Okay. Flow. Tiff [00:08:45]: Alright. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:46]: So, Tiff [00:08:47]: Just wanna make sure because, you know, if this little pearls of wisdom, we all need them. We wanna make sure the everyday man, You know, if there's a difference, they know what that is. Reginald Ferguson [00:08:55]: No. Understood. But when you become a client, then you will really be Tiff [00:08:59]: That's when you'll be schooled. Reginald Ferguson [00:09:00]: That's when you'll be imbued with the knowledge. I do wanna mention something about this though. When I went to get it rung up, I thought about my aunt Because the lady who worked for the brand looked at the tag and looked at me. Looked at the tag and looked at me. I looked at her blankly, And she goes, this is just strange. Tiff [00:09:24]: Really? Reginald Ferguson [00:09:25]: And I responded calmly, Life is strange. Tiff [00:09:29]: Good for you. Reginald Ferguson [00:09:30]: Like, give me a break, lady. I found a damn good deal. Tiff [00:09:34]: Yes. You did. Reginald Ferguson [00:09:35]: Give a darn About what happened with that label, that price. Tiff [00:09:40]: You have no idea. Reginald Ferguson [00:09:40]: I didn't make it up. I don't have tag. I I don't run game. I'm not a booster. I'm a purchaser. Tiff [00:09:48]: I mean, what are you gonna do? Carry around your own tags and put them on in a matching Lee Jack Cab in store? She was just She was just She was just She was just confounded, I guess, because that's a damn good deal. Reginald Ferguson [00:09:58]: Yeah. I shot and I scored. Tiff [00:09:59]: Is it was it a you're a sample size. Right? You're pretty much a sample size? Reginald Ferguson [00:10:04]: Impepper. Tiff [00:10:04]: So could it have been a sample, and it was just let's move this thing? Reginald Ferguson [00:10:09]: I don't know the rhyme or reason. Only thing I know, I made magic happen. Tiff [00:10:13]: I mean, that's an insane discount. I know. After you told me, I went online, you know, to price, and it's like, what kind of discount And Reginald Ferguson [00:10:19]: it's dope. Tiff [00:10:20]: I saw Nordstrom 19.95 $1,995 for, Impop. You know, I don't know what which particular one you got, but just general. Dope. Name brand. Dope. I was like, are you kidding me? Because I thought my fashion fine was insane. Reginald Ferguson [00:10:36]: Oh, it was. Tiff [00:10:37]: You blew me out of the water. Reginald Ferguson [00:10:38]: No. No. No. It's not a it's not a competition. Tiff [00:10:39]: Yeah. You did. Reginald Ferguson [00:10:39]: It's not a competition. I really I'm really good at that. I took my client as well, and, he was like, And pop. My budget isn't at that point right now. I was like, okay. But also I wanted to educate him on the brand. I was like, this is a really good Tiff [00:10:58]: brand. And also to to show him, sometimes And pop. Tom, you're gonna find these kind of sales and discounts. You've got to be there. You've gotta be ready. You've gotta Reginald Ferguson [00:11:04]: be to win it. Absolutely. I I just was going through. That's I was just really looking at patterns, just admiring the cloth. That's really what I was doing. And then I just and I had to look at the tags and just go, I'm not doing and then what I went And pop And Tiff [00:11:21]: you're like, let me hurry up and get this to the register before the number changes on that tag. Impop. I was the same way. I went to, I went to one of my favorite department stores and, just kinda sort of, And pop. You know, looking around, didn't really need anything, but kinda had something in mind. Okay. Maybe I could use a new pair of boots. And, before I got to the boots, I was walking through a section of coats, and it was end of season sale. Tiff [00:11:47]: And, And pop. Best best time to shop. I really Absolutely. I shop end of season mostly. Reginald Ferguson [00:11:53]: Nice. Tiff [00:11:53]: I never pay full price, really. Everything I buy is on sale. You should never pay full price. Reginald Ferguson [00:11:58]: I mean, you can, but you don't have to. Tiff [00:12:00]: You don't have to. I mean, I'm a seamstress. Reginald Ferguson [00:12:02]: Problem doing it. Tiff [00:12:03]: I'm a seamstress. I've made things. I know what fabric costs, you know, generally. And So I understand markups, and I understand, you know, things are on sale. Okay. That's a better price. That makes better sense to me than this huge marked up price of something that really is not worth what the name what the price tag has on it. But I stumbled across, and I'll tell you a name brand. Tiff [00:12:24]: And pop. Should we not tell you? No. You can. You can. Okay. I found something I wasn't even looking Reginald Ferguson [00:12:31]: for. A London fog raincoat. London fog. Wow. I have a story for you. Tiff [00:12:35]: It was full length. It's like, well, like, mid calf length. I don't have anything that long. Reginald Ferguson [00:12:40]: But Trench. Tiff [00:12:41]: Impop. Trench. And it was something. I'm like, you know what? I do need something when I go with my husband to these dinners these dinners where I have to wear a dress, and it's Right. And it's it's too chilly for a small jacket, or it's raining, or it's not cold enough for my wool my nice wool coat. I needed something in between, and this is exactly what I needed. And it it's beautiful. Beautiful. Tiff [00:13:03]: It's black. It's got buttons. In pop. It's got pockets. It's just it's got all kinds of personality. It's not just a straight coat with just minimal detail. There is some detail, and it's London Fog. So it's gonna last its substantial in weight. Tiff [00:13:17]: It does not have the zip outline. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:19]: You read my mind. That's what I was saying. Tiff [00:13:21]: I I was Kinda looking for that, but then I'm like, I don't really need that. And, the price on the tag was $295, reduced 2125 Oh. With my department store card. I got an additional, discount, bringing it down to $96 Reginald Ferguson [00:13:41]: Wow. Tiff [00:13:42]: And change. Come on. That's amazing. And then in the same store, the boots I was looking for, regularly $2.50. Only my size left, $45. Leather, heeled black boots. Reginald Ferguson [00:13:58]: I think you shot and you scored. I don't know Tiff [00:14:00]: why why. I wasn't even looking. Reginald Ferguson [00:14:01]: I think you I think you, Tiff [00:14:03]: Ain't that amazing? Reginald Ferguson [00:14:04]: Yeah. That was fire. Tiff [00:14:05]: And pop. So fashion finds, y'all. Fashion finds are out there. You just gotta be open. You just gotta keep your eyes out and just put it out there that that's what you're gonna find. Reginald Ferguson [00:14:14]: Put the time in. Tiff [00:14:15]: Impop And and buy when you're not looking. Like, I wasn't looking. I wasn't looking for that coat. Buy. And I was like, I'm a very practical person. You know? I make a list of what I need to buy, and I go out and I buy that. But then I saw this coat, and I'm like, you know, I kinda do need it, but I didn't really come to buy it. And I almost left it on the rack because I'm like, I can't spend this. Tiff [00:14:33]: It's not earmarked. They didn't budget And I'm like, no. Where else am I gonna get this coat for less than a $100? It's a London vog, and it's something that's practical and something I'll have for the rest of my life. Reginald Ferguson [00:14:43]: You shot and you scored. Tiff [00:14:44]: Yes, I did. Alright. And that's it for the fashion finds. Reginald Ferguson [00:14:47]: Yep. Now you know what we gotta talk about. Tiff [00:14:50]: And And the name I wasn't gonna say before because I knew it was coming up. Hold on. Hold on. Reginald Ferguson [00:14:54]: We have to introduce this. Fashion heroes. Fashion. Fashion. Tiff [00:15:07]: The next segment, And pop. Our favorite segment sometimes, most of the time. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:11]: You remember. Tiff [00:15:13]: I'm getting back on the horse. I just jumped I guess I jumped and left over the saddle and fell off other side on this one. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:19]: Ouch. Tiff [00:15:21]: Go ahead, Reg. Take it over. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:24]: Alright. So fashion hero of the day for me. Tiff [00:15:27]: And pop. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:28]: And me. May and you? Yep. Alright. Fine. Macy's at Herald Square. Oh, I got search. Excited. 2nd time and on a Sunday. Tiff [00:15:38]: Fireworks. Fireworks. Fireworks. Fireworks. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:40]: They well, they sponsored them. Tiff [00:15:41]: Yes. Reginald Ferguson [00:15:42]: Way to go, Tiff. Tiff [00:15:43]: See? Reginald Ferguson [00:15:43]: I'm not a Macy's guy. I gave them up a long time ago. Don't make a face. It's true. I was a Macy's kid and loved going with my mom and especially my grandma. When my grandma and I went shopping, it was always a special trip. She would tell me we were going, I'd jump and get ready, boy. We go to Macy's, and we go to Gimbels, and always have lunch at Tiff [00:16:10]: up. Big day. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:11]: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Tiff [00:16:12]: That's a really big day. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:13]: I mean, I'm cheesing, but you could probably hear through your headphones. Every once in a while, we go to Brooklyn and go to A&S, Abraham, Abraham Strauss, which is now Macy's. Alright. Tiff [00:16:26]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:16:26]: Great memories. These were probably seeds of why I'm doing what I'm doing now Okay. To be honest. After high school, Macy's wasn't really a store I was checking. My tastes were growing and changing, which was appropriate for my age. I look back fondly on it now. But back then, yuck. Tiff [00:16:46]: Right. Because you were, you know, following the fads and the trends that Reginald Ferguson [00:16:49]: You know? I mean, I think I was still classic For a child, from a child's perspective Right. Doesn't mean I didn't get caught up in in fads, but I think my grandparents really disciplined me. So, you know, certainly, I was a part product of my time. But also, I was always classified as being preppy and preppy is classic. Tiff [00:17:08]: Right. Blah Reginald Ferguson [00:17:09]: blah blah blah blah. But also I had the hip hop steez, obviously, living in New York. So I started getting into suiting, You know, as this as this change was happening. Tiff [00:17:20]: About what age? Reginald Ferguson [00:17:21]: I started getting in the student well, in my family, Really no suits or adornness as children. Tiff [00:17:28]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:29]: It's all about sport jacket and pants because you're growing. Tiff [00:17:31]: Right. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:32]: So it's a very pragmatic choice. I think it's a very smart choice. Tiff [00:17:36]: I do too. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:37]: So but once once it looks like maybe you start to level out and you're not gonna grow anymore, then you're allowed to enter into the suit world. Tiff [00:17:44]: Invest that money in your 1st suit. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:46]: Yeah. I Tiff [00:17:46]: guess. Because a suit is an investment. Reginald Ferguson [00:17:48]: No. Certainly. But again, you know, I'm I'm young. I'm still young. So I think once I was able to start getting a suit allowed to get a suit, let's say, like, in high school, probably wasn't the most exorbitant, but just Just a good solid price knowing that I was still growing is the point. So but I I really recommend that. You have young kids. You have young men. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:10]: Sport jacket and pants. Tiff [00:18:12]: That's the way I did it. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:13]: They're just growing too quick. Tiff [00:18:14]: Yeah. That's the way I did it. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:15]: So I started getting into suiting. Some things haven't changed. And, really, the idea of smaller shops and boutiques started to really appeal to me Tiff [00:18:23]: Right. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:24]: Back then. Macy's slowly but surely lost my interest. The only time I'd go is if I needed bedding, housewares, or if I had a gift card. Tiff [00:18:33]: Gift cards. Gotta love the gift cards. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:36]: I recently went with a friend of mine. We were in the garment district and decided to walk down to 34th Street. Big shout out to Tony Harris. He wanted to stop by Macy's. He was visiting from Connecticut, from CT. They had a holiday sale going on. Tiff [00:18:51]: Okay. You went during the holiday. It's so beautifully decorated. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:55]: Oh, absolutely. Oh, there's no question about it. Tiff [00:18:57]: Oh my god. Reginald Ferguson [00:18:57]: Question about that. Tiff [00:18:58]: And Easter with all the flowers and stuff. Reginald Ferguson [00:19:00]: Yes. The flower show. Tiff [00:19:01]: The flower show? Exactly. Exactly. Alright. Reginald Ferguson [00:19:04]: So he bought a few shirts. Then we went up to bedding. 1 of my fitted sheets have worn out, And I figured since we were in the area, we're walking around the department aimlessly. And my boy is very social. So he starts a conversation with 1 of the salespeople. I've been hanging in the back. I'm just laying in the car. She asked me what I was looking for. Reginald Ferguson [00:19:25]: I said nothing. And she drilled me. She was Caribbean. I told her I was looking for a single sheet to match my set. She asked me to brand them my set. I did half heartedly. I was like, I told her it was a old set. She said she didn't ask me that. Reginald Ferguson [00:19:40]: I was like, I grumbled. I was like, She was saying my name because my boy had told her my name. So she kept on saying, Reg. Reg. I was like, uh-uh. I asked her, could I find a single sheet for my set? She said no. But she said that my particular set was known for having a defect. And if I brought the rest, they would give me a new set. Reginald Ferguson [00:20:02]: What? Yes. I told her I didn't have a receipt. She gave me the look again like I was an idiot. She said, I told her I I told her I'd come back the next day, and I did. I couldn't believe it y'all. I also bought 2 pillows for $10. Tiff [00:20:18]: 2 pillows. Reginald Ferguson [00:20:19]: Yes. Tiff [00:20:20]: Pillows? Reginald Ferguson [00:20:21]: Yeah. Pillows for 10 for $10. Yeah. Pillows. Tiff [00:20:24]: Oh my god. Reginald Ferguson [00:20:25]: I know. I know. I know. Tiff [00:20:26]: And these were quality pillows. Reginald Ferguson [00:20:27]: Oh, yeah. Postopedic. Tiff [00:20:29]: Yeah. Macy's has quality pills. Wow. Reginald Ferguson [00:20:32]: Yeah. Silly Postopedic pills. My friend said something to me, which I hadn't thought of, Especially because he travels for work. Only Macy's at 34th Street would that happen. Tiff [00:20:44]: No other Macy's. Just Reginald Ferguson [00:20:46]: that one. And I thought about that. And this is why that store alone should be a fashion hero. Tiff [00:20:52]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:20:53]: Macy's at 34th Street. I believe is is still is the one of the largest stores in the world. It takes up the whole block. Tiff [00:21:00]: Yep. Reginald Ferguson [00:21:01]: It's 11 floors. It has restaurants. It has its own post office. Tiff [00:21:06]: I did not know it had its own post office. Reginald Ferguson [00:21:09]: Absolutely. I know exactly where it is. I'm Chicago. Tiff [00:21:12]: Oh, okay. Yeah. Reginald Ferguson [00:21:13]: On the low. Yeah. Significant. It is showbiz, 34th Street, Herald Square. It is Hollywood. Tiff [00:21:20]: Yep. Reginald Ferguson [00:21:21]: It is Broadway and and, you know, until I went there with my boy, I think I forgot about all that. Gucci is in Macy's. Tiff [00:21:31]: Yes. They On the 1st one. Yep. Yeah. Yep. They recently refurbished a store. And pop. The the the new look of Macy's has been around for about a year, year and a half now. Tiff [00:21:41]: And, yes, the higher name labels, you got Longchamp in there. You've got Gucci. You've got another Burberry. Burberry is one of the side shops, I think. Yeah. All of those higher brands, they totally, And pop. They Reginald Ferguson [00:21:55]: upped their game. Yeah. And let's talk about that 1st floor. Tiff [00:21:59]: It is Reginald Ferguson [00:21:59]: a spectacle. It is drama, And I think a department store has to have a story, a narrative. The ceilings are so high. Tiff [00:22:08]: Yes. Reginald Ferguson [00:22:09]: It's amazing. The cosmetics area where women are transformed. Tiff [00:22:14]: And I was transformed once in there, by the way, and it was amazing. It was amazing. Reginald Ferguson [00:22:18]: When I was growing up, I remember my mom did this once. My mom had some place to go and decided to go to the cosmetics area, Get done up, and then go to where she had to go. And I never forget that. Tiff [00:22:33]: What you do. Reginald Ferguson [00:22:33]: I was like, man, that's slick. Tiff [00:22:35]: Yep. Reginald Ferguson [00:22:35]: That's slick. You're like, will you try this? I like to try this. I like to what do you think? Tiff [00:22:40]: And you just buy 1 eye. You know? You buy your mascara or your lipstick. Reginald Ferguson [00:22:42]: But you can get you can get totally done for an event. I thought that was I thought that was smooth. Tiff [00:22:47]: I've done that. Reginald Ferguson [00:22:48]: See? Macy's 34th Street is a tourist trap. But for once, I mean this in a nice way. It draws in everyone, foreigners, vacationers from other states, Along with New Yorkers. It holds speaker events, went to 1 recently, fashion shows, annual installations Like the flower show, the Thanksgiving Day parade, a tradition like no other. Tiff [00:23:13]: The July 4th fireworks. Reginald Ferguson [00:23:15]: Well, that's what I was saying earlier. Yeah. My family used to go to the parade. Tiff [00:23:20]: Oh, yeah. Reginald Ferguson [00:23:21]: Santa Land. What about the role the store has had in movies and television? Miracle on 34th Street. Exactly. I truly believe it still holds the inspiration for a young designer to wanna make it here And being makes these. Like, how they're aligning. I just it's a magical place. I do think when you go to 1 in another region or even in another borough, It's simply not the same. Tiff [00:23:46]: It isn't. I was recently the where I found my fashion finds. I was in White Plains, New York. Reginald Ferguson [00:23:51]: Oh, okay. Tiff [00:23:52]: Yep. Reginald Ferguson [00:23:54]: My aunt my aunt does a lot of shopping out at White Point. It's my aunt and my uncle. Tiff [00:23:57]: It's I loved it. I mean, it was 2 2 spacious malls, and Macy's is one of them. Reginald Ferguson [00:24:02]: Right. Right. Yeah. Well Tiff [00:24:04]: not the same. Those wooden those wooden escalators in Macy's at Harold Square Yes. Just I go out of my way to ride those escalators. The Reginald Ferguson [00:24:12]: wooden escalators are cool. I'm gonna tell you a story about those wooden escalators that you may or may not know. When they first were installed way back when, Shoppers, patrons were freaked out. Tiff [00:24:23]: Were they? Reginald Ferguson [00:24:23]: They were freaked out. So freaked out that what they used to do when the escalators were first installed, They would have an individual there that would have, like, shots of alcohol for you to Tiff [00:24:35]: Really? Reginald Ferguson [00:24:36]: Nip and then, yeah, And then get on the escalator. Tiff [00:24:38]: Oh, I wish they still Reginald Ferguson [00:24:39]: did that. To alleviate the fear. Tiff [00:24:43]: That's oh, that's a fun fact. Yeah. Reginald Ferguson [00:24:45]: Yeah. Yeah. Tiff [00:24:46]: That's a I I have a bunch of fun facts about Macy's coming up, but I I didn't know that. Reginald Ferguson [00:24:50]: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. My grandparents lived in the Bronx, And they were a hop skip away from the 1 in Parkchester. And the 1 in Parkchester was cool. It did the job, but definitely wasn't the same Right. As 34th Street. Tiff [00:25:03]: No. Reginald Ferguson [00:25:03]: I mean, not in the least. Tiff [00:25:04]: Now you think the magic of 34th Street is because of the movie? You think that's some people have a nostalgic kinda, Impop. They sensibility about it because of the movie? Reginald Ferguson [00:25:14]: I don't think necessarily because of the movie. I think the movie is a touchstone for people of that era. I mean, even you and I, we leaped and talking about it, but that movie isn't our era. That movie is my late mom's era. Tiff [00:25:24]: Yeah. Before. I don't think I've seen the whole thing all the way through. Reginald Ferguson [00:25:27]: Natalie Wood. So I just think as a New Yorker, it just has it has a special essence and power that I had forgotten about. Tiff [00:25:39]: Yeah. It's a whole block. Reginald Ferguson [00:25:42]: It's a whole block. Tiff [00:25:43]: It's a whole Reginald Ferguson [00:25:43]: block. It has its own post office, y'all. Tiff [00:25:45]: Unbelievable. Reginald Ferguson [00:25:46]: That I mean, that in itself. Tiff [00:25:48]: My husband calls it my mothership. Oh, she's going to the mothership. She's going to the mothership. And he knows when I say I'm going to Macy's, he's not gonna see me for a good 7, 8 hours because I hit every floor. Impop. I go to Macy's, and I hit every floor every time. Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:26:03]: What floor? Tiff [00:26:04]: I would say 90% of the time. Sometimes I have to dash in. I I get my brows, my eyebrows done there. Reginald Ferguson [00:26:10]: I bumped into you doing your annual thing. Do you remember that? I saw you Tiff [00:26:14]: Oh, yeah. With all my packages. Reginald Ferguson [00:26:16]: My god. Ladies and gentlemen, I was, just going on the train, and I heard someone yelling my name. I was like, Macy's? And that's literally how I responded because Macy's doesn't have that impact on me anymore. Tiff [00:26:40]: Yeah. It's fine. Reginald Ferguson [00:26:41]: Have that hold. Tiff [00:26:41]: I shop. And pop. When I go shopping, I I shop once. Yes. Like, Reginald Ferguson [00:26:46]: I would Tiff [00:26:46]: love to have the luxury to go to little boutique stores all over the city, all over Brooklyn, you know, going to these little places and that but the only way to do that is if that's your career. You know? It's like Hello? When you work like a job job, you you sort of like job. Oh, I need this, that, and the other thing. Where can I get all of that in one place? And that's why Macy's is my fashion hero because I can go to Macy's if I've you know, I'll go seasonally. Like, I'll do a seasonal shot, which is 2 or 3 times a year, and I'll go top to bottom. I'll go get my face stuff, my my top stuff, my bottom stuff, my shoes stuff, my dress stuff, my coat stuff, my bathing suit stuff, all of it in one shot. And one time, I had to call my husband to come pick me up because I couldn't carry it all on the subway. Reginald Ferguson [00:27:36]: Tiffany, my god. Tiff [00:27:37]: Yep. That's the way I do it. And, by the way, I did that one time, and shoes was my last stop because, you know, I buy everything else, and then I see what kind of shoes I need to go with whatever I bought. Reginald Ferguson [00:27:50]: Right. Tiff [00:27:51]: And, and it's also the shoe department is dense. Impacts. It's a whole floor, and they've got sale racks all around the perimeter. Reginald Ferguson [00:27:59]: Of the of the of the shoe the shoe department, is it really Tiff [00:28:02]: It's a whole floor. Reginald Ferguson [00:28:04]: No. No. But I'm saying, is it really all that? Because I have to tell you the men's shoe department is Wampum. Tiff [00:28:08]: Oh, yeah. The women's shoe department is all of that. Really? And now All the sale racks, like, they're divided into different sizes. So 7a half has its little cutout room, and then you go to 8 eight and a half, and the 99, all around the perimeter. It's just a room full of size 8 shoes, and I'm talking 8, 9 racks. Impop. It it's it's yes. And there are, Reginald Ferguson [00:28:30]: you know, Tiff [00:28:31]: serious discounted shoes. 50%, 75%, some of them 90%. Just get them out of here. It's, you know, clearing, and I think that's a way that they clear out inventory from other stores. I think it comes back to maybe the main store. Not not a fact. I can't state that as a fact, But the inventory they have is always deep. And it's like, where how do they have this much inventory that they're that they're moving out at 75%, 90% off? Reginald Ferguson [00:28:56]: Right. Tiff [00:28:56]: Maybe they get it from other stores. Who knows? But, anyway, yes. That's that's why Macy's is one of my fashion show. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:03]: Could tell. You you know you know, red. Sheesh. I know. Tiff [00:29:08]: It's a little warm in here. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:10]: Well, did you know they're doing made to measure suiting? Tiff [00:29:14]: No. I didn't know that. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:15]: Yes. They are. Yeah. New thing. On the low. Tiff [00:29:19]: Now how do we find out about that? Because, my Reginald Ferguson [00:29:21]: outfit through me. Tiff [00:29:22]: Oh, okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:22]: Obviously, I've had they're also doing shirting. Tiff [00:29:25]: Impa. Made to measure shirting. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:27]: Suiting and shirting. Tiff [00:29:28]: Nice. Yep. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:29]: I did my reconnaissance. I can't speak for the other stores. I can't speak for their overall challenges and their role in the landscape. What I can say is that I think I still believe in the magic of Macy's Herald Square. Tiff [00:29:44]: And pop You're gonna make me tear up. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:46]: Well, I got you all red. Tiff [00:29:48]: Yeah. You're getting all soft and mushy over there. Right? I am not. Yeah. You are. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:52]: And Tiff [00:29:52]: it's not. It's attractive. So keep it coming, Reg. Reginald Ferguson [00:29:56]: Fine. Well, here's something that we ain't gonna get at Macy's. My I must have it item. Tiff [00:30:01]: Do we have to go there? Reginald Ferguson [00:30:03]: Well, do you wanna talk about Macy's? Tiff [00:30:04]: I I could talk about Macy's all day. No. Go on. Reginald Ferguson [00:30:07]: What you got? Tiff [00:30:08]: Well, I just have some fun facts. Oh, no. I'm sorry. Right back. Reginald Ferguson [00:30:11]: Right. Did you Tiff [00:30:12]: know so, the opening date of the very first Macy's was in 18/51. Reginald Ferguson [00:30:17]: Wow. Tiff [00:30:18]: And it was in Haverhill, Massachusetts to serve the shopping needs of mill workers and their families. And it failed. Along with 3 other dry goods stores opened by Roland Hussey Macy's. He's the original. And pop. And he wants he then opened in New York City in 18/58, 7 years later, Impromptu. And it grew to be one of the largest department's realist, store retailers in the world. Moving to 34th Street, I had a date here. Tiff [00:30:50]: And pop. Hold, hold, hold, hold. In 1924. Oh. Actually, no. That was the 1st Macy's Day Parade. Sorry. 1920s. Tiff [00:30:58]: Okay. Never mind. Reginald Ferguson [00:31:00]: Alright. Tiff [00:31:00]: Let's skip that fun fact because I have I have another fun fact. In pop. It was, the 1st retailer to promote a woman to an executive position. It was, the first as well to pioneer revolutionary practices such as the one price system. Are you familiar with this? No. No. Impop. The one price system in which the same item was sold to every customer for the same price. Tiff [00:31:26]: Apparently, back in the day, depending on the customer, they Impossamer. They jack up the price. What? You know, if they thought you had a lot of money, they jack up the price of something Wow. To get more money. I'm not sure, but that's what that intimates to me. Right? But, also, Macy's was also the first to introduce products such as the teabag. What? Because before, you know, you had tea, loose leaf tea Sure. And teapots and things like that. Tiff [00:31:52]: They were the first. And the Idaho baked potato. What? Macy's was the 1st to introduce the Idaho baked potato. Wow. Remember, they started off as dry goods Dry goods. And colored bath towels. Reginald Ferguson [00:32:07]: Wow. Tiff [00:32:08]: Wow. Isn't that amazing? So they were also Very integral in in their being the 1st to do a parade, the Macy's Day parade. Reginald Ferguson [00:32:18]: I still watch the parade. Tiff [00:32:19]: And pop. I mean, talk about brilliance in business marketing. The parade, the movie, and the 4th July fireworks. Everything has its name on it. From a business point of view, they have nailed the game of marketing and getting their name and branding, getting their name out there. And the star, the Macy's star Reginald Ferguson [00:32:39]: Yes. Tiff [00:32:39]: Comes from a tattoo that mister Macy had when he was in the navy. Isn't that interesting? And he carried that to to the brand name Reginald Ferguson [00:32:48]: Wow. Or a Tiff [00:32:49]: merchant marine. So those are the fun facts. I just had to get that in. Reginald Ferguson [00:32:54]: No. No. It's cool. It's cool. That's that's what that's what you do. Tiff [00:32:56]: That is what I do. And I as I said earlier, I can't research enough. So we had to get my research in there to make my time. No. Reginald Ferguson [00:33:02]: Of course. Of course. Of course. All good. Tiff [00:33:04]: Now and I know why you were excited to move on. We should move on to The next segment. Reginald Ferguson [00:33:11]: I must have it. Tiff [00:33:13]: I must have it. Reginald Ferguson [00:33:20]: I My mom has it. Have it. Have it. Tiff [00:33:25]: I'm sorry. I don't know why I did that, but it because it's exciting. Reginald Ferguson [00:33:29]: It's okay. Alright. Tiff [00:33:34]: Shall we go? Reginald Ferguson [00:33:34]: Yeah. I'm ready. Tiff [00:33:36]: I bring out I brought a little picture your show. Reginald Ferguson [00:33:39]: Oh, man. Those look fierce. Tiff [00:33:41]: I gotta tell you, when I was like, no. I had to email you and go, are these And pop. And you're like, yep. I was like, wow, was the only thing I could say, Reg. What's our I must have it item Reginald Ferguson [00:33:54]: of the day? It's a it's a collabo. It's the Ray Korthe brighten loafer with tassels. Tiff [00:34:00]: What? Yeah. Alright. What Exactly is that. What I mean, that's a mouthful. Reginald Ferguson [00:34:07]: Yes. Yes. Well, Corte is a famous French brand. Tiff [00:34:11]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:34:12]: And oftentimes, I talk about The Rake. Big shout out to The Rake Magazine. Tiff [00:34:16]: It's a magazine. Reginald Ferguson [00:34:17]: Yes. It is. For the well dressed man. Tiff [00:34:19]: And Corte Brighton? Is that a Reginald Ferguson [00:34:22]: Well, the the Brighton is the style. K. Corte is the brand. A French brand. Tiff [00:34:26]: So we've got a magazine. Reginald Ferguson [00:34:28]: They're doing a collabo. Tiff [00:34:29]: Collaborating with the brand, Corte, on a Brighton style Loafer. Reginald Ferguson [00:34:35]: Yes. It's called the Brighton. Tiff [00:34:36]: K. Reginald Ferguson [00:34:39]: So it is amazing to me. I'll explain why. First of all, they did it with tassels. They never really do tassels. So Tiff [00:34:46]: Two tone tassels too, I have to point out. Reginald Ferguson [00:34:48]: Slickity slick. Blue suede. Tiff [00:34:51]: Blue Suede. Reginald Ferguson [00:34:53]: Now I wanna be clear. I have 2 pairs of blue suede shoes, But I don't have them in that shade of blue. Tiff [00:35:04]: I didn't even know you had blue suede shoes. Reginald Ferguson [00:35:05]: I do. But I if we didn't have bad weather today, I was contemplating wearing it. Tiff [00:35:09]: And, you talked about you didn't have him in this shade of blue. Talk to me about this shade of blue, Reg. Reginald Ferguson [00:35:15]: Well, The shade of blue, ladies and gentlemen, is inspired by Chagall. Tiff [00:35:21]: The artist. Reginald Ferguson [00:35:21]: Mark yeah. Mark Chagall. And I just I find it really striking. And the reason if if it wasn't inclement weather today, I would have warned them just to Stare and compare that yeah. I can't compete. Tiff [00:35:38]: It's beautiful. Reginald Ferguson [00:35:39]: I yeah. Now I have 2 pairs. Both slip on loafers. 1 is a dark navy. Brooks Brothers. Tiff [00:35:47]: Practical. Shout Reginald Ferguson [00:35:47]: out to Brooks Brothers. Tiff [00:35:49]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:35:50]: And then I have a lighter blue slip on casual, Barney's. Big shout out to Barney's. Tiff [00:35:58]: Something you'd wear in the spring, summer. Reginald Ferguson [00:36:00]: Yes. Tiff [00:36:00]: That lighter blue. Reginald Ferguson [00:36:01]: Yes. Exactly. But these Tiff [00:36:04]: These are totally not practical. Reginald Ferguson [00:36:07]: That's not true. Tiff [00:36:07]: They are not practical. Cool. Reginald Ferguson [00:36:09]: That's not true. Tiff [00:36:09]: They are absolutely exotic and fabulous. And Reginald Ferguson [00:36:15]: And I need them. Tiff [00:36:16]: I mean, they're practical. Impop. They're practical in the sense that they're a pair of shoes. Like, you can absolutely wear them just as shoes are practical, they are practical. Reginald Ferguson [00:36:23]: With one of my suits. Tiff [00:36:25]: But let's talk about the fabulousness, the flare, the exquisite craftsmanship of this shoe. And pop. So first first of all, to note the color, which we've already noted, the Chagall blue. Reginald Ferguson [00:36:36]: Yeah. It's a beautiful blue. Tiff [00:36:37]: It's based on a Mark Chagall painting, which I totally did not note the title of the painting. But it's the color of the sky in his painting, that blue blue night sky. And it's beautiful. And also, the tassels are also very much Reginald Ferguson [00:36:52]: Tassels are dope. Tiff [00:36:54]: Yes. With when I say 2 tone leather, it's like suede, and then smooth leather, which makes it look 2 different color blues. Reginald Ferguson [00:37:01]: Like me a tassel. Tiff [00:37:02]: But let's talk about the insole, that red insole. Calfskin. Beautiful. And it's got that back tab at the back of the heel. Reginald Ferguson [00:37:12]: That you could flip up and down, and it's got their they're noted for a star logo. Tiff [00:37:16]: Yes. Speaking of the star logo, it's not the same as the Macy's star, but it's their star. And you can fold that red tab down on the back of that blue that blue suede I love it. And it's beautiful. I know. Okay. But it's And pop. The brand is noted for its soul. Reginald Ferguson [00:37:36]: Yeah. They have a crazy well, I don't know how well, you'll have to break it down about the soul. I don't know that much about So, I mean, it has an amazing and I don't wanna give away my fashion wear of the day, but they have a cool chiseled toe. Tiff [00:37:49]: I was looking at that toe. Yeah. It's not square. And I'm not gonna It's not round. Reginald Ferguson [00:37:52]: Yeah. And I'm not gonna talk about the sole. I'm gonna defer to you. Tiff [00:37:55]: Okay. Reginald Ferguson [00:37:55]: Because I realize it's gonna mess up my fashion. Tiff [00:37:57]: Well, you know, these a lot of men's shoes normally have a leather sole, a leather stitched sole. This is a Goodyear welted technical rubber sole. Reginald Ferguson [00:38:06]: It's a rubber sole. Tiff [00:38:07]: Goodyear. But it's Made by Goodyear. Reginald Ferguson [00:38:09]: Goodyear. Yeah. Yeah. Well, Goodyear does a lot of stuff with you. Tiff [00:38:11]: So and, the point of it, it it performs as a traditional leather welt should, but it's considerably more lightweight and flexible and functional And fly. Which enhances the comfort of the shoe. So this is a Reginald Ferguson [00:38:27]: Fashion sometimes hurts, ladies and gentlemen. It won't it won't bother me. Tiff [00:38:31]: No. I mean, if you look at the toe of the shoe, it's slightly pointed, but you've got that comfortable rubber sole. And it I mean, it's I I was like, that's rubber. I mean, I look Reginald Ferguson [00:38:40]: And I throw on my art supports. I'm off. Tiff [00:38:42]: I looked at the sole. I look I I was like, this Shoe is Bad. Beautiful. Reginald Ferguson [00:38:48]: I know. Tiff [00:38:48]: And, the, I actually looked at it on the rake. Reginald Ferguson [00:38:52]: Oh, you did. Tiff [00:38:54]: And the price point on the rake, drum roll, please. £1,450. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:03]: Impa A mere bag Tiff [00:39:03]: of shells. Now that is an investment. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:06]: In me. Tiff [00:39:09]: And pop. So with these specific soles, if you ever I don't know if this sole wear down like a leather sole. I mean, it's a Goodyear tire rubber, I mean, if you think about it. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:19]: I don't think it will. I have a lot of shoes anyway, so I'll mitigate the wear and tear. Tiff [00:39:24]: You'll keep these shoes forever. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:26]: That's a mighty long time. Tiff [00:39:27]: And pop. So when are we gonna buy a pair? Reginald Ferguson [00:39:29]: I don't know. Tiff [00:39:30]: God. I can't wait. I can't wait to see you stepping out with these. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:36]: Oh, I don't need them, but I want And pop them. Tiff [00:39:38]: Oh, they're beautiful. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:39]: I know. Tiff [00:39:39]: So everybody check them out. You can go to The Rake, and, just do a search for the Corte chacal blue patinated suede loafers. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:48]: The Brighton loafer. They're beautiful. Tassels. Tiff [00:39:51]: Alright. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:52]: I did it. Tiff [00:39:53]: And pop. Reginald Ferguson [00:39:54]: Let's move on. Tiff [00:39:56]: Fashion word of the day. Yes. Reginald Ferguson [00:40:03]: Fashion word of the day. Tiff [00:40:08]: Are you ready? Reginald Ferguson [00:40:09]: Yeah. Sure. Tiff [00:40:11]: I think I'm ready too. So who wants to go fur you've been going 1st a lot. So You can go. I'm gonna go 1st because I think I I think I'm gonna stump you with this one. Reginald Ferguson [00:40:19]: Great. Tiff [00:40:20]: So what is the fashion word of the day is Yes. If you haven't been listening, we each bring a word, a fashion term, you know, a glossary term. Impop. It's something that does deals with men's fashion. And we present it to each other, and we ask each other to spell it And pop. And define it. Reginald Ferguson [00:40:37]: And use it in a sentence Tiff [00:40:40]: because it's fun. It's like our little game show kind of thing. Yeah. Impac. Alright. So I'm gonna go first with my word. Reginald Ferguson [00:40:47]: Yes. Shantung. Say what? Tiff [00:40:51]: I I knew it. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it. I was so excited when I found this word. Shantung. Shantung. Would you like to spell it, Reg? Reginald Ferguson [00:41:01]: I'm I'm blank, ladies and gentlemen. I'm totally blank. We I Do Tiff [00:41:06]: you wanna attempt to spell it? It's it's Can Reginald Ferguson [00:41:09]: you attempt to pronounce it again? What what are you saying? Tiff [00:41:12]: Shantung. Reginald Ferguson [00:41:14]: Alright. C h e n t o n g u e? Shandong? I I have no idea what you're saying. Tiff [00:41:21]: Gosh. Not really close, Reginald Ferguson [00:41:25]: And pop. Those buzzers are gonna sound good. Tiff [00:41:27]: Right? I was gonna do it myself, but I'm gonna leave it up to search to put that in there. So you Reginald Ferguson [00:41:32]: Wow. You Tiff [00:41:32]: know what it is. You just don't know you know. Reginald Ferguson [00:41:35]: I don't think I do. Tiff [00:41:36]: So shantung is spelled s h a n t u n g, one word, and it's a fabric. It's a silk fabric. And it's a silk fabric used in making ties. So, but it's a little different. So most Impop. The ties, silk ties on the market are a smooth silk tie. Reginald Ferguson [00:41:55]: Yes. Tiff [00:41:56]: The shantung is very close to another kind of silk called a dupioni silk, which is when when they weave the silk, the warp and the weave, the warp has, they use, I guess, you could call them thicker yarns. So it makes it kind of slubby and textured in the finished product, so it's not all smooth. It's got some some sloves, and some, I guess, they call flanks in in the in the presentation of the tie. So it gives it some different Impap. Characteristic. I'll read the definition. It's rich richly textured woven fabric produced by adding slubs of thicker yarns into the warp. Historically from the province of Shandong in China, silk shandong shantung fabric does not display an iridescent effect because it uses 1 color in the weave. Tiff [00:42:49]: And it's used most it it use it's used in in gowns, a lot of wedding dresses, but it's it's actually being used a lot now in men's ties. Reginald Ferguson [00:42:59]: You got me. Tiff [00:43:00]: Yes. And it's also a lot less treated than the traditional And pop. Smooth Reginald Ferguson [00:43:04]: silk. K o punch. Tiff [00:43:05]: It's it's closer to raw silk. And they it's it's they're beautiful. Yeah. Beautiful. If you want something that's a single color, but you want some texture in it, some level of personality, this is what you get. And it's a little bit expensive. Reginald Ferguson [00:43:21]: Of course. Tiff [00:43:21]: Because worth it. Yes. Because it's silk. It's it's it's not as mass produced as your smooth silk and Impop. Treated, like I said earlier. They're beautiful. You should check them out. Reginald Ferguson [00:43:32]: My ties have ties. I need no more ties. Tiff [00:43:37]: Well Matter Reginald Ferguson [00:43:38]: of fact, as you were talking, I realized I'm going to give away a tie. Tiff [00:43:43]: Really? Reginald Ferguson [00:43:44]: Yeah. When, you know, when I did all the stuff at my grandparents per my mom's, passing, found some old ties, and I found a tie that I'd given my grandpa, I believe. I took it back. And I wore it this past week, and I realized, no. Gonna gonna put it in the Tiff [00:44:01]: And pop. And you know when it's time. Black. And you know when it's time. Reginald Ferguson [00:44:04]: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Tiff [00:44:05]: That's interesting. Good for you because Yeah. Reginald Ferguson [00:44:07]: I have a lot of ties. Tiff [00:44:08]: You have to cycle stuff out. Impop. You you know? Reginald Ferguson [00:44:10]: I'm not much about that. I just I acquired some Tiff [00:44:13]: Well, you don't have to. You've got the the closet, of the gods. Yeah. Reginald Ferguson [00:44:17]: You really Don't play me out. Unbelievable. Oh, please. Tiff [00:44:21]: I wish I had 1 quarter of your closet space. Reginald Ferguson [00:44:24]: Ladies and gentlemen, when you have a tie rack that's doubled up and sometimes Triple. That's a problem. So I'm giving 1 tie away. Tiff [00:44:33]: That's gonna make a lot of room. Reginald Ferguson [00:44:35]: It's gonna be very helpful. Tiff [00:44:37]: Alright. So come on. Give me let me see if I win this round. Give me my word. Reginald Ferguson [00:44:41]: Sure. Sure. Sure. Well, I realized I played myself, so you're gonna get this. Tiff [00:44:45]: Am I? Reginald Ferguson [00:44:45]: Yeah. He'll see why. The word of the day fashion word of the day for me to you? Welt. Tiff [00:44:52]: Welt. W e l t. Reginald Ferguson [00:44:57]: Yes. Tiff [00:44:58]: And welt? It is a, it's a type it's it's Impop It's like a welted fabric. I don't Reginald Ferguson [00:45:06]: know about you using the same word. It's good Tiff [00:45:08]: with the condition. That's all. Reginald Ferguson [00:45:10]: Hold on now. Tiff [00:45:11]: You might've gotten me. Reginald Ferguson [00:45:11]: That's elementary school rules. You can't. Tiff [00:45:16]: Well, I spelled it Welt, but, Clearly, my definition is is not going to be the same. So I guess It's Reginald Ferguson [00:45:25]: a strip, leather, for example, set in between the outsole of a shoe and the edges of its insole and upper, to which the parts are joined by stitching. Tiff [00:45:34]: Oh, the welt of a shoe. Reginald Ferguson [00:45:36]: I am. We only talked about that's why I had to catch myself when we talked about our I must have it item. You kept on talking about the Goodyear welt, and I was like, oh my god. I'm such a knucklehead. Tiff [00:45:47]: Oh, I even said it, didn't I? Reginald Ferguson [00:45:48]: Yeah. You did. Tiff [00:45:49]: I don't know why we I guess because I mine was about fabric. You Impossible. Okay. Use it Reginald Ferguson [00:45:54]: in a sentence. Certainly. I would I would defer that Goodyear probably has the better, most long standing welt in the shoe game. Tiff [00:46:09]: And pop. Boom. There we go. Shout out to Goodyear. Reginald Ferguson [00:46:11]: Yeah. Absolutely. They've been doing that for a mighty Tiff [00:46:13]: long time. This is when I read about that's the first Same time I knew about that. Tiff [00:46:21]: Right? When Reginald Ferguson [00:46:22]: you think about it. I guess. Tiff [00:46:23]: I've only used Goodyear for tires. Alright.
